The Trends

It was so hard to focus on just the hair and makeup. Overall, these women really rocked their entire looks. The hairstyle of the night was the pompadour, hair swept upwards from the face and worn high over the forehead. Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Alicia Keys were just a few of the stars to hit a high note with this sophisticated style.

Hits

Katy Perry: Her turquoise-blue hair styled in a pompadour was to die for! Her skin tone and eye color really held up to this avant-gard color, made complete with her icy blue gown. Not many people can pull this off but she most certainly did.

Adele: Her glamorous, old Hollywood style hair was stunning. Her blonde hair is a refreshing change, but she is more authentic as a redhead.

Julianne Hough: She is the new Jennifer Aniston with beachy casual hair that worked well with her simple yet serious gown. She was a picture of stunning elegance.

Hilary Scott: Lady Antebellum’s Hilary Scott looked gorgeous with her long and sleek style. The rich chocolate tone was a bit deeper than her normal color but it worked nicely with her gown choice.

Alicia Keys: Alicia Keys’ Grammy night look is the perfect example of hair and makeup working beautifully together. She was channeling a little bit of Grace Jones for the evening.

Rihanna: Rihanna paid tribute to the 80’s with Bon Jovi hair that brings back the good old days! Her look was a perfectly executed marriage between hair, makeup and gown.

Cindy Lauper: This is the best Cindy has ever looked. Pairing black extensions with blonde hair at her age is risky, but it all came together with her makeup and the overall look was fantastic.

Misses

Sonny Moore: Undoubtedly the worst hair of the night. The half-shaved head is not something that you want to see every day. Originality is great but this went just a little too far.
