On the article 'Jerry Garcia Was My Banjo Instructor'

ReplyI have to add a Jerry Garcia story of my own: I once got to tour with the Dead in 94 for a story about Garcia's return after what they said then was a diabetes problem. So, we were in a van with mirrored windows driving from the Arizona Biltmore (they stayed in nice places) to Blockbuster Ampitheater through a throng of people lined up to get in.
The windows were open at the bottom, but no one could see in, and as we drive through the crowd, this Deadhead says to a friend "You know who's in that van?"
I thought...oh no, they are going to riot and break open the van.
I'm looking at Garcia, Lesh, Hart...waiting for trouble.
And the guy continues: "Those are the narcs. They sneak them in early to every concert."
Classic moment. -

ReplyAwesome column cynthia. What do you think of growing food out there? I've been shooting pictures of gardens around town and realized we have more color and exotics right in our front lawns than you would see when you pay to go to a botanical garden in a town you are visiting.

Terrence..that is the term that Miguel prefers...why? Because it was accurate at the time he was coming in.

ReplyWhen I lived in London, Lee Ho Fooks (from the Zevon song) had a secret. Order the duck with rice and it was twice as much as ordering the rice with duck, but it was the same meal.

cynthia, yup. Or as some like to say, the path between the wine bar and the margaritas.
