List Prepared for Vietnam Veterans Honor Roll

Vietnam veterans who attended Medfield High School will be honored on a plaque outside their former school. The community is asked to review the list of names for accuracy.

In early November, Medfield's Vietnam veterans will be honored with a plaque to be located outside the former Amos Clark Kingsbury High School (now the Thomas A. Veterans Honored and Remembered by Medfield Community at Plaque Rededication Ceremony

The May 27th rededication ceremony of the World War II Veteran's plaque at Dale Street School officially kicked off a memorable Memorial Day weekend – paying tribute to and honoring those who have served the Medfield community and country.

On May 27, nine of those 153 names on the list were present outside the school they once attended as guests of honor for the rededication ceremony of the plaque that was originally dedicated in their honor by the school’s Class of 1944. The scene of those nine veterans gathered together in front of the newly revealed plaque was one enjoyed by many in attendance. “It was great,” said Bob Maguire, Superintendent of Schools. “I have been here in the community for almost 20 years and I …

Medfield Volunteers Working to Replace Veterans' Plaque

Donations to help replace the World War II Veterans' plaque outside the gymnasium of the Dale Street School can be made at Lord's Department store or mailed to the Medfield Foundation, 459 Main Street, Medfield MA 02052.

When Nancy Kelly Lavin first saw the World War II veterans’ plaque outside the Dale Street School’s gymnasium, she was surprised she had not noticed it before and then disappointed by its condition, as was her father, William J. Kelly Jr., whose name is on the plaque. The men and women listed on the plaque were teenage students in the building when it was the Hannah Adams Pfaff High School (from 1927 and 1951) when they enlisted. “Once I realized what I was looking at, I was sad,” said Lavin, noting the plaque has fallen into disrepair with names that are missing letters, and gold stars that have fallen off.  “When my father Bill Kelly [of Lord’s Department Store] first saw the plaque, he immediately wanted to do something so he came up …
