The Medfield Public Library will be presenting, "The Pagemaster" (rated G) with Macauley Culkin, starting at 6:15 p.m. The movie is 75 minutes long. ORIGINAL STORY The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization summer concert series starts tonight, according to MEMO's website. The concerts will be held at the Town Gazebo (between the library and the Zullo Gallery) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In case of rain cancellation, the library will host a family movie night starting at 6:15 p.m. and the notice of cancellation will be posted on MEMO's website and on Medfield TV (Verizon 47 and Comcast 8). Here is a look at the winners from this year's "Joy to the World" youth singing contest.
On Friday, the winners of the second annual "Joy to the World Youth Singing Contest" sang at Medfield's annual tree lighting celebration. The event was sponsored by Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization. The contest was held on Dec. 4 at Medfield High School with over 50 contestants auditioning. "The organizers admire the guts and musical abilities of all those who participated," said one organizer. As difficult as it was, the judges chose the following outstanding performers who performed at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Baxter Park held last Friday evening: Pre-K – 5th Grade Middle School High School Ensembles See you next year!

As part of Medfield's annual tree lighting celebration, Lord's Department Store will offer 20% off most items in the store on Dec. 7.
As part of this year's annual holiday celebration, Lord's Department Store will hold its 43nd Annual Midnight Madness when Lord's will offer a 20 percent discount off everything in the store except food and tobacco products. Affectionately known as "the social event of the season," Midnight Madness will take place on Friday, Dec. 7 from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. There will also be chances to win the following: Santa Claus will arrive at 6:30 p.m. and there will be free photos (taken by Patch contributor Colleen Sullivan) with Santa for the first 200 people. Guests can enjoy free soda, coffee, and doughnuts at the soda fountain as well as live entertainment by "Good Speed and Friends."

It's the MEMOst wonderful time of the year... The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization (MEMO) will kick the holiday season into full swing next week with many holiday events. In preparation for the festivities, last weekend MEMO volunteers helped Henry Marcel install approximately 8,000 holiday lights at Baxter Park and Town Hall. Each year, MEMO installs and sponsors the lights for the Holiday Tree Lighting and also runs the event. Next week's schedule of MEMO-sponsored events includes: The contest is open to soloists in the following categories: Pre K – 5th Grade, Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12 and duets and ensembles from all grades. Another successful Discover Medfield Day. Thousands of people gathered on the downtown streets and around Meeting House Pond to celebrate the Town of Medfield. Local Celtic band “Ceilidh” will conclude this year’s MEMO’s summer concert series at the town gazebo. On Thursday, the band Ceilidh (pronounced Kay-lee) will fill the town gazebo with a blend of Celtic classics and Cape Breton-inspired originals to create a high-energy, foot-stomping party. Jeri Bergonzi - a teacher of piano, harmony, improvisation, and singing at Medfield Makes Music for 25 years - will perform on Thursday.
Medfield jazz vocalist and pianist Jeri Bergonzi will make her performance debut on Thursday as part of the MEMO Summer Concert Series. The Jeri Bergonzi Quartet pays homage to jazz great Shirley Horne. According to her biography, Jeri (who is married to world famous saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi) grew up singing the songs of her beloved Laura Nyro and Joni Mitchell while listening to the progressive rock bands of the1970s. She studied jazz improvisation with the legendary Charlie Banacos. Jeri’s repertoire spans the jazz tradition from the standards of Porter, Gershwin, and Ellington to the contemporary sounds of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. Acoustic Fire will appear at the MEMO summer concerts at the Gazebo, July 26 beginning at 6 p.m. A popular feature during July and August in Medfield, the concerts are one of the many seasonal activities offered by the Medfield employers and merchants organization for residents of the area.
