Officials Thank Two Medfield Police Officers for Response to Boston Marathon Bombings

Selectmen acknowledged the role that MPD officers Jim O’Neil and Eric Pellegrini played in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.

  The Board of Selectmen started their meeting this week with a word of thanks to two Medfield police officers who helped with aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15.  Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Mark Fisher said that, within 20 minutes of the Boston Marathon bombings, MPD officers Jim O’Neil and Eric Pellegrini were on their way into Boston. The men are part of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council which is made up of a group of 42 law enforcement agencies in the Metro-West area. "We do really appreciate all the effort they put in in that crisis and they were able to apprehend the two suspects," Fisher said, noting the men were working 12-18 hour days during the crisis. Two Medfield Officers Assisted in Bombing Aftermath

Two Medfield police officers helped with the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.

  Within 40 minutes of the Boston Marathon bombings, two Medfield police officers (and their gear) were headed to Boston with a cruiser, according to Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr. "I realized that many Medfield residents were running the Marathon and many more family members and friends would be along the route to support them. So there was never any question as to whether or not Medfield would assist, obviously we would," Meaney said.  Medfield had 27 residents running in the 117th Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. "As Chief, I understood that this would be a long term commitment of days, not hours, in order to support the long list of tasks that would need to be done," Meaney said, noting the officers were there each day and …
