35 Years Later: What Do You Remember From the Blizzard of ’78?
Nearly 30 inches of snow blanketed the region during the historic storm.
As we get ready for what could be remembered as the "Blizzard of 2013," we can't help but look back at THE blizzard -- the "Blizzard of '78" -- which took place 35 years ago this week when the historic nor'easter walloped the state of Massachusetts along with much of the Northeast. While the blizzard actually formed on Sunday, Feb. 5, 1978, most of the snowfall occurred between Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 -- 35 years ago today -- of that year. Boston received 27.1 inches of snow, while Providence, Rhode Island received 27.6 inches. About 100 people were killed in the Northeast from the storm, while around 4,500 were injured.
