BOSTON – On this past Saturday, 35 towns competed in the Division 3 state meet at the Reggie Lewis Center, including Medfield. MHS' Alex Stanton won first place gold in her two events, the 55 meter hurdles and the 600 meters. The senior, who has committed to run division I for Brown University next year, currently holds nine Medfield High School track records. The girls' team placed ninth overall, racking up more points with a fourth place finish in the 4x200 relay run by Kate Piersak, Mekenzie Smith, Taylor Worthy and Kristina Gustafson. It is a busy day in Medfield High athletics as three sports and six teams are on the schedule Wednesday. Boys' Hockey: Medway at Medfield Veteran's Rink in Franklin, 4 p.m. The Medfield High boys' hockey team is coming of a Big Ham Cup tournament split over winter break, beating Scituate, 2-1 before falling to host Bourne in the championship game. The Warriors resume Tri-Valley League play today at 4 p.m. when they host Medway at Veteran's Rink in Franklin, the team's first "home game" of the season. Prediction: Look for Medfield's Jim MaGrath to have a big game and Connor Roddy to make the necessary saves in net to secure a Warriors' victory. Medfield beats Ashland, Medway in Saturday's indoor girls winter track meet.
The Medfield High School girls' indoor track team picked up two Tri-Valley League wins at one meet Saturday in Holliston. The Warriors edged a strong Ashland High School team, 44-42 and thwarted Medway, 70-16. "I am very proud of the girls," said Warriors' head coach Melinda Lohan. They ran great races and really stepped up where we needed them to. Ashland has some studs this year, so we are extremely pleased with our victory." Lohan credited the performances of Taylor Worty, Kristina Gustafson, Sally Todd, Cassidy Baird, Alex Stanton and Lauren Rimmel as keys to the victories Saturday. The 4x400 team of Cami McCurdy, Sarah Bock, Baird and Worthy finished first with a time of 3:38. The Warriors placed first in four other events: Alex …
