Souvenir mugs can be picked up today after 2 p.m.
After some transportation issues, the final order of Lord's souvenir mugs is expected to arrive in the store today. Nancy Kelly-Lavin, who owns Lord's Department Store with her brother Tom Kelly, said the mugs should be available for pick-up after 2 p.m. this afternoon. The final order of 100 mugs arrives just hours before the store will close its doors after 73 years in business. The mugs will sell for $14.95 each. Souvenir t-shirts are also still available. The business is closing on Thursday.
There are just a few days left to purchase Lord's t-shirts and mugs (due to arrive shortly) before Lord's Department Store closes for good later this week. Though the store will close its doors one last time on Feb. 28, store owners Nancy Kelly-Lavin and Tom Kelly expect merchandise to be gone before that time. The doors will likely close to the public on Wednesday, if not before. Be sure to stop by soon, if you need a souvenir t-shirt or mug (or one final walk around the store). One of the many highlights from the "Celebrate Lord's" party on Feb. 15 was an Ode to Lord's by long-time employee Barbara Bolzani.
Barbara Bolzani has worked at Lord's Department Store for more than 20 years. Lord's will close its doors one final time on Feb. 28 after 73 years in business. Bolzani was also a surprise speaker at Friday night's "Celebrate Lord's" party held at the store. Here is her Ode to Lord's (and a list of the many fun things she has done at the store over the years). Thanks for the memories, Barbara! By Barbara Bolzani I have been here for 21 years Sharing in both sorrow and good cheer, Meeting lots of people for whom I care Opening at 5:00, weather fowl or fair There’ve been a lot of changes since then Some improvements to the store have been Exciting to have happened, like when I no longer had to rise at five to open We may not be well-…
The Kellys will hand over the keys to the new owner on Feb. 28 but may be out of merchandise much sooner.
It's true. It's not a bad dream. There's no doubt about it. Lord's Department Store is closing. While there are still a few fixtures left for sale -- as well as the office furniture, file cabinets, and restaurant equipment left from the lunch counter -- what little merchandise is left on the shelves has been marked down by 75 percent in an effort to clear out the store as soon as possible. And there are still good deals to be had, but time is running out. "We're trying to have all the merchandise gone by this weekend so we can clear out the rest of the fixtures; we have to be broom-clean on Feb. 28," said Nancy Kelly-Lavin, who owns the store with brother Tom Kelly. New store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more Lord's stories, click …

Owners say everything must go.
And so it begins... The retirement sale at Lord's Department Store starts today. After 73 years in downtown Medfield, Lord's will close its doors on Feb. 28. "We're going to start a store closing or retirement sale and just start to liquidate everything in the store, the fixtures and everything," said Nancy Kelly-Lavin who runs the store with her brother Tom Kelly. Store hours have been cut back to 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Also this week, patrons can pre-order t-shirts which are being sold to commemorate the store's longevity; and they can write down a special Lord's memory in the memory book/book at the front of the store. Lord's Department Store is closing on Feb. 28. Retirement sales start next week.
It's the end of an era. Lord's Department Store, the "little bit of everything" store that has anchored Medfield's downtown for 73 years, will close its doors on Feb. 28. Nancy Kelly-Lavin, who runs the business with her brother Tom, said the time is right to close the store. "It took us months and months and months to figure out what we wanted to do but we think the time is right," said Kelly-Lavin. "We have mixed emotions, it's sad, but we're trying to do what's best for our families." Kelly-Lavin said she and Tom discussed the future of the business with their father, Bill Kelly, before he passed away in May. "My father actually talked to us about this and gave us his blessing," Kelly-Lavin said, adding that their mother, Kathryn …
