Zullo Gallery Roof Deck Open Tonight

The roof deck is open on Wednesday and Thursday nights this summer, and will include an artists' reception on July 26.

The Zullo Gallery roof deck is open Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. this summer. On Thursday, July 26, the gallery will host an artists’ reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring Stephen Boczanowski, Sean Flood, Scott Francoeur and Filipe Miguel whose work is on exhibit through September 2. Zullo Gallery Director Bill Pope says a visit to the roof deck is a nice way to enjoy a summer visit to downtown Medfield, especially on a Thursday when guests can enjoy “a summer trio” of events. “It ties in nicely with the Farmers Market and the MEMO Concert at the Gazebo,” he said.    Patrons can enjoy beer, wine, and refreshments and, on occasion, live music. The gallery is also open for viewing on Saturday and Sundays from noon…

I'm also a roofing contractor serving the Medfield and Westwood area (www.olympicroofing.com/westwood-ma-roofing/). Zullo Gallery is a great place and they did a nice job with theirs. I've never received as many inquiries about roof deck installation than this Summer. We're going to be more prepared for next summer's demand.   more ›

Zullo Gallery Seeks Artists for September Show

Artists looking for visibility are invited to submit artwork for the Zullo Gallery’s 18th Annual Juried Exhibit in September.

The Zullo Gallery is looking for artists to showcase in its next exhibit. The exhibition is open to artists who are 18 years or older, and working in any medium.  Artists can submit up to three works created within the past two years.  The submission deadline is August 22. “The juried exhibit is one of our most popular shows, and this one is extra-special because it marks the start of our 25th season,” said Zullo Director Bill Pope. Jean Mineo is this year’s featured juror. Mineo has managed arts organizations in the Boston area since 1994. She is coordinator of the Boston Sculptors Gallery, coordinates the Jamaica Plain Open Studios event featuring 220 artists each year, and provides public art consultation to the City of Boston. Selectmen Meeting Notes

Selectmen Notes: Town's Average Tax Increase is 2.6 Percent; Officials Support Timilty's MSH Amendment

The Medfield Board of Selectmen met Tuesday to discuss the following town business.

Town Administrator Michael Sullivan reported that the average tax increase, from fiscal year 2006 to present, is about 2.6 percent. “It shows that we are not spending excessively,” said Sullivan. “Our problem right now is a decline in revenues, particularly from local receipts other than property tax and state aid.”  Sullivan said that many people, if asked, would estimate the tax increase to be between five and six percent when it is actually less than half that amount. He said the town will save an additional $150,000 in interest when, this week, it refinances $13.8 million in bonds, including $12 million for three school projects, $1.4 million for water main replacement on North and Green Streets, and $400,000 for additional work on the…

Medfield Music Director Doug Olsen to perform at Zullo Gallery on June 8

Needham Bank is sponsoring the June 8 fundraiser at the Zullo Gallery featuring Medfield Music director Doug Olsen.

After witnessing the talents first-hand of Medfield's jazz students at the recent Jazz Night, Needham Bank has put its support behind Music Director Doug Olsen’s fundraising show for the Zullo Gallery on Friday, June 8, in addition to the MEMO concert series kicking off with the jazz band’s performance at the Gazebo on June 14. “The Medfield jazz band has had an amazing year, and the students are fortunate to have Doug Olsen leading it. He is both a dedicated director and a talented musician in his own right,” said Steven Walls, branch manager of Medfield Needham Bank. “The Zullo show on June 8 with Doug in his jazz quintet will not only help the gallery, but give the community the rare opportunity to see his own talents on the trumpet. We…
