Schilling's Bloody Sock Up to $60k, Live Auction Could Top $100k

The famous "bloody sock" worn by Curt Schilling during the 2004 World Series was put up for collateral for his video gaming company and is now on the auction block.

Bidding is under way for Curt Schilling's "bloody sock" worn by the former Red Sox pitcher in the 2004 World Series. Schilling had listed the sock as collateral to secure a loan for his now failed video game company, 38 Studios. The sock is expected to bring in more than $100,000.  Schilling's outstanding debts are close to $100 million.  Chris Ivy, director of sports for Texas-based Heritage Auctions, said bidding opened at $25,000 and was up to $32,500 by Monday and was at $60,000 by Monday night.  According to Heritage Auctions, "The Bloody Sock" worn by pitcher Curt Schilling in his profoundly gutsy performance in Game Two of the 2004 World Series, consigned by Schilling himself, will be sold as part of Heritage Auctions' Feb. …

Babe Ruth: Medfield Loses World Series to Milford ... Again

History repeated itself Friday as the Medfield Senior Babe Ruth baseball team lost the World Series to Milford for a second consecutive season after an 8-6 loss Friday at Curt Schilling Field.

For the second straight season, the Medfield Senior Babe Ruth team lost to Milford in the Central Massachusetts Senior Babe Ruth World Series. Medfield took the defending champions to a decisive Game 3 Friday but fell short of the league's ultimate prize, suffering an 8-6 loss at Curt Schilling Field. "This hurts," said Medfield head coach Kevin Glasheen. "Our kids played hard but it still hurts because you never know, we may not be back here for awhile but we'll put a team together next year and come back and do it again but it hurts." Medfield fell into a 4-0 hole in the first inning as Milford hitters showed patience against Medfield starting pitcher Corey Chung, who entered Friday's Game 3 with a 2-0 record in the postseason, picking …

Babe Ruth: Medfield Shut Out in Game 2 of World Series vs. Milford

Medfield Senior Babe Ruth team will host Milford Friday at 5:30 p.m. in a decisive Game 3 of the Central Massachusetts Senior Babe Ruth World Series.

MILFORD – The Babe Ruth World Series between Medfield and Milford will go to a third and decisive game after a big win for Milford, who won a defensive battle enroute to a 3-0 victory in Game 2 Thursday. Aside from token hits and the occasional walk, it was a defensively sound game through the first four innings. Milford was playing for their season while Medfield was trying to end it and as a result, both teams played a tight game with minimal risks taken. That all changed in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs and no one on, Mike Tracy single to right field to start the first threatening rally of the evening. After a Brendan Pound walk, Cam Cossette singled to center field to load the bases for Milford. With bases loaded and …

Babe Ruth: Medfield-Milford World Series Opener Suspended to Wednesday

Game one of the Medfield vs. Milford Senior Babe Ruth World Series will resume in the bottom of the first inning Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Curt Schilling Field.

Mother nature took game one of the Central Massachusetts Senior Babe Ruth League World Series between Medfield and Milford Tuesday evening at Schilling Field.  The teams were able to play through the top of the first inning thanks to the quick work of Medfield Starting pitcher Joe Shebertes, who mowed down the top of the Milford batting order, one-two-three, tallying two strikeouts.  Then the lightning came as Medfield's Gil Adams made his way to the batter's box, resulting in a 30-minute delay at 5:35 p.m. Rain followed and the game was inevitably suspended until Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Schilling Field. Play will resume in the bottom of the first inning with Medfield batting.  "It was a quick top of the first but then Mother Nature got …
