Use Caution: Nor'easter Leaving Roads Slick

National Weather Service says 2 to 4 inches of snow possible. A wind and winter weather advisory are in effect until Thursday morning.

Drivers are advised to use caution as they traverse Medfield roads tonight. The police department reports a high number of car accidents due to the nor'easter that is expected to drop between two and four inches of snow in town, according to the National Weather Service reports. An unofficial measurement by Patch indicates nearly three inches of snow have fallen since 1 p.m. today. Around 6 p.m., the state's Department of Transportation tweeted that "Snow, ice crews now total 243 treating, plowing roadways. Light to Moderate snow. Roads wet to slush, snow covered. NWS: Medfield Could See 3-5 Inches of Snow Saturday

Snow could begin as early as Friday night. Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens Saturday as storm makes it way across the area.

The groundhog wasn't kidding. Eight days after Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and a hazardous weather outlook throughout the area for this weekend. Up to an inch of snow could fall across the region Friday night, mainly after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service's website. Medfield could then see an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow fall across the area Saturday. "Snow showers with a high near 35," the NWS said of Saturday's expected weather in Medfield. Police: Power Outages, Safety Still Concerns in Medfield

Medfield Police Chief Robert E. Meaney Jr. provided Medfield Patch with a 6 p.m. update Monday of the town's condition in the aftermath of October's Nor'easter.

Power outages remained Medfield's biggest issue Monday in the aftermath of October's Nor'Easter that left three inches of snow, downed wire and trees and 1,000s without power across town. According to NSTAR, 1,077 or 22.6 percent of Medfield customers remained without power as of 4 p.m. Monday. Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr. said trucks and crews of the utility company will be working through the night. "As of [Monday] afternoon, NSTAR has power crews and tree crews in town working on clearing the trees and branches from the wires and repairing the wires," Meaney said. "They hope to have power restored to many more residents [Monday night] but are saying that it may be Wednesday evening before the work is done." In addition to …

Updated: Medfield Public Schools Closed Wednesday in Anticipation of Round 2 of Storm

The worst of this week's winter storm is set to hit Tuesday night through Wednesday with an additional 4 to 8 inches of snow possible.

Medfield has already received 6.5 inches of snow as of Tuesday night, according to Medfield Weather, with plenty more of it to come late Tuesday and through Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, another four to eight inches is expected to fall on town with a messy mix of sleet and freezing rain in Wednesday's forecast. As a result, Medfield Public Schools have been closed Wednesday and the Montrose School on North Street has also shutdown for the day.  Conditions of town roads and major highways were poor throughout Tuesday as the Highway Department and plow crews were out cleaning up Mother Nature's latest mess. Medfield Slammed With 18.5 Inches of Snow

Wednesday's storm caused plenty of disruption throughout town that could have lingering affects Thursday.

Wednesday's winter storm buried Medfield in 18.5 inches of snow as of 8:30 p.m. and caused plenty of power outages, downed wires and trees in the area and throughout the state.  As a result, road conditions are likely to remain hazardous as DPW and Highway crews head out to cleanup Mother Nature's mess. "Once the storm has ended, it will be several hours before the roads will be cleared," said Medfield Police Chief Robert E. Meaney Jr.  Montrose School announced Wednesday night it would be closed for a second consecutive day Thursday because of "hazardous road conditions," the school's website said. Medfield Police Chief: Heavy Snow Causes Wires Down and Trees In Roads

Medfield has been hit with 12.5 inches of snow already with more to come.

Medfield Chief of Police, Robert E. Meaney Jr., has advised town residents to stay off the roads if possible because the heavy snow is causing problems on the roads. "All roads are snow covered and some roads are not plowed from side to side and are more narrow than normal due to trees hanging over the road," Meaney said Wednesday morning. "Once the storm has ended, it will be several hours before the roads will be cleared." Medfield has already received 12.5 inches of snow as of 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Medfield Weather with more expected to fall throughout the day. Winter Storm Watch In Effect Tuesday Night Through Wednesday Evening

National Weather Service reporting 10-17 inches of snow possible.

Keep your shovels and winter gear handy and make sure you make your weekly trip to Shaw's early as heavy snow is expected in Medfield Tuesday night through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.  A Winter Storm Watch  has been issued from Tuesday night through Wednesday evening for most of Southern New England and into Southern New Hampshire, according to the weather service based out of Taunton.  “Hazardous travel conditions are expected Tuesday night and at least through the day Wednesday,” the report said. “Visibility will be poor and commute on Wednesday morning will be very challenging.” In Medfield, snow is likely for Tuesday night, mainly after 3 a.m., according to the weather service. Storm Likely To Hit Harder In Western Mass.

National Weather Service says Medfield may see 1 to 2 inches Friday with 2 to 4 inches possible by Sunday morning.

It appears the worst of this weekend's snowstorm is headed out towards Western Massachusetts and Medfield is likely to see up to an inch of snow Friday night, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton. “We’re not looking for a big impact on this,” said National Weather Service forcaster Charlie Foley. The snow is expected to start between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday and continue through the night, slowing down by 3 a.m., according to the weather service's website.  Medfield is expected to see a dusting to one inch of snow Friday, said Foley. “That said, with that amount it might have an impact on the evening commute,” he said. Blizzard Buries Medfield in Over 9 Inches of Snow

With snowfall to continue into Monday, closures and cancellations expected.

Medfield received 9.75 inches of snow Sunday with more expected to fall throughout the night and into Monday, according to Medfield Weather. As a result, town hall announced it would be closed Monday "due to a snow emergency." The Medfield Public Library also announced it will be closed, canceling the following events scheduled for Monday: Super Mario Brothers Wii Play Time, "Needs and Leads Networking" event. Medfield Patch is still awaiting word on Monday's Medfield High boys' hockey game in Wellesley against the Raiders at 3:40 p.m. and the girls' and boys' varsity swim meets against Holliston. Strength of Potential Storm Uncertain

Latest reports say major snow unlikely, expect flurries.

Will it or won't it? That's the question being asked by many throughout the region regarding this weekend's winter forecast; will the snow actually fall? The impact of the season's first storm remained a wild card Friday night. The National Weather Service reported on its website that the storm's track is uncertain. However, around 4 p.m., Channel 7 Chief Meteorologist Pete Bouchard Tweeted, "Hey Folks...it's off. Stand down on the major snow. Trading it in for flurries and wind. That is all."
