Break-in on Stuart Street, Problem at Railroad Tracks, Child Without Seat Belt

Here's a look at the Medfield safety logs for Jan. 22 and Jan. 23.

  Tuesday, Jan. 22 5:44 a.m., North Street and Deerfield Road. Traffic enforcement yielded one citation. 12:35 p.m., Miller Street. Provided funeral escort from Miller Street to Vine Lake Cemetery. 1:43 p.m., Kenney Road. Caller said his mother is not feeling well and that hse has had severe head pain for the past week. "EMD was performed including pre-arrival instructions." Medfield ambulance took patient to Natick. 3:03 p.m., North Meadows Road. Caller reported there is a car behind him with a child in the front seat not wearing a seat belt. The car turned up West Street. Police did not find the car.  3:45 p.m., Curve Street at Spring Street. Police noticed a smell of gas in this area and notified the gas company.  6:09 p.m., Rustic Lane…

Two More Wins for the Big Blue Last Week

The Medfield High School Boys Basketball Team won their games agains Westwood and Bellingham.

The Medfield Big Blue Boy's basketball team had two more big wins last week.   On Tuesday, the team had an exciting come-from-behind win vs. Westwood.   Down by 17 points at half-time, the Big Blue came out in the second half a totally different team and held Westwood to just 12 second half points. Drew Shea led the team with 18 points, John Zimmerman had 16.   On Friday, the team overcame a sluggish first half once again and beat Bellingham 65-32.     John Zimmerman led the balanced scoring attack with 12 points, Remy Fragola and Matt Pembroke had 11 points. Kerry Blue Terrier Missing Near Medfield/Walpole/Westwood Line

Dog ran away on Dec. 28; could be within 10 mile radius.

Vader is missing from the Walpole/Medfield line and his owners need help to find him. Vader is a 4 year old Kerry Blue Terrier. Very friendly and hyper. He took off from his owner's yard on Friday 12/28 on Old North Street in North Walpole, close to “Bubbling Brook” on 109.  He was heading toward Westwood/Medfield, but is a very fast runner and could end up anywhere within a 10 mile radius. Medfield Boys Varsity Hockey Beats Westwood 4-1

Medfield Hockey's winning streak continued on Tuesday with another win.

Click here to find out how.  The Medfield High School Boys Varsity Hockey team beat Westwood 4-1 on Tuesday night to win their third game of the season. They have no losses to date. Johnny Monahan stopped 30 shots to bring his season total thus far to 80 shots and 79 saves! The next game is Saturday, Dec. 22 against Holliston at 6:30 pm at the Franklin rink.

VIDEO: Medfield Edges Westwood in Shootout to Advance in State Tourney

The Medfield High School boys' hockey team defeated Westwood, 2-1 in a shootout to advance to Sunday's MIAA Division 3 South Sectional quarterfinals against Scituate at 12:15 p.m.

BOURNE – Medfield's Toby Carlow and Westwood's Mike Welby both knew Thursday's first round game between their boys' hockey teams in the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional State Tournament would be close. Just not this close. Medfield edged rival Westwood, 2-1 in the fifth round of a shootout to advance to Sunday's quarterfinal round against Scituate at 12:15 p.m. at Gallo Arena in Bourne. Thursday's first round thriller was all about the goaltenders as Medfield's Conor Roddy and Westwood's Will Ribas, a freshman, each stood on their heads – allowing just one goal apiece in 57 minutes of play. 5 Ways to Beat the Heat

Temperatures today have hit the mid-80s, so here are some tips on how to stay cool.

It's late afternoon and temperatures are approaching the high-80s for the day. It may be hot, but here are some ways you can cool off today. 1. Grab a cone. What better way to beat the heat then with some ice cream. Stop by Friendly's on Main Street in town or head down Route 109 into Westwood for a visit to Bubbling Brook. 2. Take a dip. If you have a pool, or a friend who has one, there's no better a time to spend the whole day soaking in the water. Let those fingers and toes get prune-y! If you don't have a pool, consider a trip to one of Medfield's swimming spots, like Hinkley Pond. 3. Stay in. Today's heat can be dangerous.
