Swap Area Opens on May 1

  The popular "swap area" at the Medfield Transfer Station will open for the season on Wednesday, May 1, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  For more information, visit town.medfield.net

Spring Clean for Medfield Green Day, May 4

Medfield GREEN DAY is a drive-thru donating and recycling event held annually to provide residents with a quick and easy way to pass along items that they no longer need.

  It's time to start Spring Cleaning which means it's time to think about recycling and repurposing, and that's where "Medfield GREEN DAY" comes in. On Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, Medfield Green will be hosting its annual Medfield GREEN DAY at the American Legion, 110 Peter Kristof Way, Medfield, where more than a dozen local non-profit organizations will be on-site to accept donations.  Medfield GREEN DAY is a drive-thru donating and recycling event held annually to provide residents with a quick and easy way to pass along items that they no longer need. The Transfer Station will be open on Sundays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dispose of Christmas Trees Properly

State fire marshal says trees have been involved in fires.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan today urged community members to dispose of their Christmas trees properly. Christmas trees kept too long after the holiday have been involved in fires, including one at a Lunenberg condominium last Jan. 9, Coan said in a press release. In Medfield, Boy Scout Troop 89 will pick up your Christmas tree (and wreaths, etc) on Jan. 5 and Jan. 12. The Transfer Station will be open on Sundays, Nov. 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will not be open on Veterans' Day.

  To help with fall clean-up, the Medfield Transfer Station will be open on Sundays in November -- Nov. 18 and Nov. 25 -- from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Medfield Swap Area: Do You Want It Year-Round?

Selectman Peterson visited the Sherborn swap area which has permanent structures which allow them to operate year-round. Is that something Medfield needs?

Medfield Transfer Station to Remain Open All Week for Residents

As a result of last weekend's October Nor'easter, the Medfield Transfer Station will be open all week to assist residents in their cleanup from the storm.

The Medfield Transfer Station will be open every day from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for all Medfield residents with valid transfer station stickers, according to the Town of Medfield. The expanded hours are a result of this past weekend's October Nor'easter that caused mass power outages throughout town and many downed trees in the area. The additional hours of operation enables residents to clean up from the storm. The transfer station schedule for the month of November is Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9a.m. to 4 p.m. A reminder, the Town of Medfield will not be picking up brush from private trees. Selectmen Agenda: Swap Area Subcommittee, Medfield Day and State Hospital Update

The Medfield Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. on the second floor of Town Hall. The public is invited to attend.

Medfield’s selectmen are expected to hold more discussion on the formation of a swap area subcommittee at the town’s transfer station. Selectman Ann Thompson said during the July 19 selectmen meeting that she spoke to several volunteers from the swap area of the transfer station and that “they are very interested in being an active group that will be down there all the time because they are down there almost all day Saturday anyway,” Thompson said at the meeting. Also on the agenda is MEMO’s request for Medfield Day. At the July 19 BOS meeting, selectmen chair Osler “Pete” Peterson and selectman Mark Fisher debated fees MEMO pays the town for Medfield Day, resulting in a controversial vote of approval for MEMO to hold the Sept. 17th event…

Meeting Notes: Selectmen Discuss Crosswalk Safety, State Hospital Issues

The Medfield Board of Selectmen touched on several town issues at Tuesday's meeting.

Medfield's Board of Selectmen discussed openings involving the Housing Authority and the town’s bylaw review committee at its July 5 meeting. The selectmen also discussed the ongoing work surrounding the old Medfield State Hospital site. Committee Appointments and Discussions: The selectmen appointed Cynthia Greene and Elisa Franco to the town's bylaw review committee. The selectmen discussed the open position on the five-member Housing Authority Board in an attempt to gain interest in the position so that the board can continue its reorganization.
