Here’s a resident’s guide to everything you need to know about the upcoming Medfield town election on Monday, March 26.
Last March, 808 voters participated in the town’s annual local election with the Library Trustee being the only contested race for town offices. This year’s election also has just one contested race – but will likely draw a larger turnout because it is for a seat on the town’s Board of Selectmen. Current Board of Selectmen chair Osler “Pete” Peterson, who has sat on the board for 12 years, is up for reelection an being challenged by Nikolaos Athanasiadis, a local business owner and Medfield resident since 1995. In advance of the March 26th town election, the Medfield League of Women Voters sponsored a “Candidates' Evening” on Wednesday, March 21st in the Chenery Room (second floor of Town Hall). The evening was designed to introduce the …

Dear Editor, I’d like to endorse the reelection of Pete Peterson for Selectman on March 26. Pete was the driver behind organizing the Medfield Lyme Disease Study Committee of which I’m chair of. After hearing me speak about Lyme disease prevention to a group of soccer coaches, he immediately contacted me to learn more. Pete clearly understood it to be a public health issue for Medfield and initiated the formation of a citizen’s study committee. The committee has several initiatives to help reduce the incidence of Lyme disease in town. Our approach is through education on ticks and personal and property protection as well as responsible management of the deer to reduce the tick population. Pete has been a regular attendee and contributor …

Dear Editor, We are writing to urge Medfield voters to reelect selectman Pete Peterson. Pete's record as a selectman is commendable. Medfield has weathered the financial storms of the last several years without disastrous cuts in town services and Pete is part of the reason for that. He has also shown a concern for, and worked hard to address, long term issues that face us, from affordable housing to the state hospital to the declining commercial base. He has worked to bring new ideas to the Board of Selectmen discussion on these and other issues. He has been outfront on the 40B issue, helping organize and lead meetings and discussions. He has been active in several town groups. His work on the Medfield Foundation over the years has helped…

Dear Editor, I am writing to encourage my fellow Medfield citizens to join me in voting on March 26th to reelect Pete Peterson as Selectman. I confess I can be a bit of a political cynic and probably would not be writing this endorsement had I not had the recent opportunity to work with Pete on a project near and dear to my heart. The Medfield Foundation Volunteer of the Year Awards were initiated by Pete in 2008 to recognize the generosity of time and spirit so prevalent in Medfield. In the years since - and nearly single-handedly - he has worked to shed a light on the unique giving character of our town, from the unsung volunteers who stuff envelopes to the committee chairs who drive the progress of good causes that benefit us all. As a …

To the editor, We would like to publicly endorse the reelection of Osler “Pete” Peterson to the Medfield Board of Selectmen. We have personally known Pete for over 11 years. Pete works hard to keep informed not only about our town’s issues but also at the state level. He keeps informed of all laws, regulations and trends that have the potential to affect our town. Not only does he acquire information so that he can make informed decisions, he also freely shares this information throughout various forums in Medfield. Pete’s blog, medfield02052.wordpress.com, is a very active forum in which you can read about issues affecting Medfield and the surrounding area and, most importantly, this is a place where questions on issues can be asked. We …

To my fellow Medfield voters, A fresh spring breeze is blowing in the Medfield Selectman’s election. Nikolaos Athanasiadis is that fresh breeze. Nick’s life experiences, his education and his business background have prepared him to take on the office of a Medfield Selectman. The approach Nick uses towards problem solving is much like solving a math problem: In the next few years, the political nature of Medfield will change; let’s start the change now by voting for Nikolaos Athanasiadis to be our next Selectman. Thank you for voting for Nick on March 26th. Sincerely, Lou Fellini Colonial Rd., Medfield
