Medfield Girls Basketball Wins Over Oliver Ames

Medfield Girls' Basketball wins its regular season, 61-55.

Medfield Girls' Basketball finished its regular season with a win over Oliver Ames at last week's Walpole Tourney, according to the Boston Herald. The Warriors won the game -- which was a rematch of last year's Walpole Tournament finals in which Oliver Ames spoiled Medfield's perfect season hopes with final-minute heroics -- with a score of 61-55.  "We talked about that during our timeout with five seconds left," Medfield coach t Mark Nickerson told Patch after the game.  "I said ‘You’ve been here before. If the old adage is true that you learn more from your mistake than you do from your successes, we should be all set.’ We just talked about what happened last year and things we can do to avoid that from happening now, and the girls did…

Medfield Girls' Basketball Over Oliver Ames in Walpole Tourney

Medfield over Easton in Walpole Tourney Championship.

The following ran in the Easton Patch on Feb. 21, 2013. The Oliver Ames girls' basketball team went into Wednesday night's Walpole Tournament championship game facing one final test before the Massachusetts State Tournament. They were certainly tested in more ways than one. A scrappy and relentless Medfield squad stood in the way of Oliver Ames heading into the state tournament unbeaten. The Warriors won the back-and-forth game, 61-55. The Tigers dropped to 18-1 overall. "It’s really too bad that somebody had to lose this game," Oliver Ames coach Elaine Clement-Holbrook said. "That’s just the way it goes. It’s not one of those things where everyone gets a trophy and everyone is smiling." The game was a rematch of last year's Walpole …

3v3 Soccer Tournament Filled with Fun [PHOTOS]

The tournament brought out 385 Medfield soccer players who took the field in costume.

Nothing could dampen the spirits of the soccer enthusiasts playing in this year's 3v3 Soccer Tournament. The annual event was hosted by Medfield Soccer and was held at the Wheelock School on Sunday.   It is Medfield Soccer's largest fundraiser. All proceeds go to help the organization. Children in grades 1-8 were divided into two groups. The morning group consisted of boys in grades 4-8 and girls in grades 5-8, while the afternoon group consisted of grades 1-3 boys and grades 1-4 females.  Organizer Mark Tarallo said 385 players turned out for this event (some teams had four players instead of three) and a good time was had by all. Check out our photo gallery to see all the great costumes and some pretty good soccer moves! And feel free to…

Medfield Girls' Hoops Cruise Past Hingham; Advance to Saturday's Quarterfinals

Medfield dispatches Hingham from state tournament with 77-25 victory Thursday and advance to Saturday's quarterfinals, where the Warriors will take on TVL foe Hopkinton.

The Medfield High girls' basketball team made quick work of Hingham in Thursday's first round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament with a 77-25 victory over the Harbormen. The number two seeded Warriors outscored Hingham 20-6 in the first quarter, including a 15-0 run, to take control of the game right out of the blocks and did not allow the underdogs to build confidence. Medfield's press forced 20 turnovers by halftime and kept Hingham from getting into an offensive flow. Medfield head coach Mark Nickerson was impressed by the way his team jumped opened the tournament. "We got off to a nice start," Nickerson said. "We shot the ball well in the beginning, which was good. We threw pretty much everything at them and got a …
