Medfield Dance Academy Reflects on Performance in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

A team of 19 girls were part of the "Spirit of America Dance Team" which performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

On Thanksgiving day, 19 dancers from the Medfield Dance Academy joined 600 other dancers from around the country as part of the "Spirit of America Dance Team" in the Macy's Day Parade.  This was the studio's 26th performance in the Thanksgiving Day parade. "There were 600 dancers and another group of 400 cheerleaders," said their dance teacher 'Miss Jenna' Cox. "They did a great job." The dancers told Patch "It was like a giant dance party...It was like we were celebrities for a week."  Receive updates to this story (like when we add more photos) and other breaking news in your inbox or smartphone by signing up for our newsletter here "It was a crazy experience," said Emily Taylor, 16. Happy Thanksgiving, Medfield!

A brief note from the editor...

Dear Medfield Patch Readers, Thank you for taking a moment out of your busy Thanksgiving holiday to check in with Patch. We, too, will be enjoying the holiday with family and friends but wanted to take just a minute to say "Thank you" for all you do to support Medfield Patch. As you know, Patch's mission is to focus on hyperlocal stories (peppered with a few other interesting items along the way), to be a place where the community can gather in cyberspace (when you can't get to Lord's or the local coffee shop), and to be a sort of one-stop-shop where we can all share local news, announcements, photos, etc.  Medfield residents have helped us with that mission since welcoming us to town nearly two year ago (wow!), and for that we are truly…

Free Coffee and Thanksgiving Travel Tips

Here are some tips from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to make your Thanksgiving travel a little easier.

Will you be driving on Thanksgiving night? Thanksgiving holiday traffic is expected to be at its peak on Tuesday, Nov. 20, Wednesday, Nov. 21 and Sunday, Nov. 25, according to MassDOT. To avoid delays on busy days, drivers should consider hitting the road during the early morning or after 8 p.m. The worst heavy traffic and busiest toll plazas are expected at I-90's Exit 9, which connects to I-84 on the way to Connecticut and New York, according to MassDOT. …

5 Things For Which We're Thankful

From our logo to our readers, I have reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

A word from Associate Regional Editor Danielle Horn... My family's Thanksgiving tradition, which I'm sure many families share, is to go around the table and name at least one thing, or person, for which we're thankful. The activity doesn't always produce the most heartwarming responses; it's typical for at least one wise-guy to smirk and say something along the lines of, "I'm thankful Danielle didn't cook the meal." (Culinary prowess is not a trait for which I'm known.) As I pondered what I'll be sharing at the table today, I got to thinking that the question would be appropriate as it relates to Patch.  So, let me extend my family tradition to this virtual gathering-place, and share with you five Patch-related things that make me thankful…
