MHS Boys Hockey Clinches TVL Championship [PHOTOS]

Medfield won over Dover-Sherborn 5-0

  The Medfield High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team has clinched the Tri-Valley League Championship title. The final score of Wednesday's game against Dover-Sherborn was 5-0, according to MassHSHockey.com.   Tyler Etzkorn (#22-captain) scored two of the goals to clinch the TVL championship, according to one spectator.  Were you at the game? VIDEO: Medfield Edges Westwood in Shootout to Advance in State Tourney

The Medfield High School boys' hockey team defeated Westwood, 2-1 in a shootout to advance to Sunday's MIAA Division 3 South Sectional quarterfinals against Scituate at 12:15 p.m.

BOURNE – Medfield's Toby Carlow and Westwood's Mike Welby both knew Thursday's first round game between their boys' hockey teams in the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional State Tournament would be close. Just not this close. Medfield edged rival Westwood, 2-1 in the fifth round of a shootout to advance to Sunday's quarterfinal round against Scituate at 12:15 p.m. at Gallo Arena in Bourne. Thursday's first round thriller was all about the goaltenders as Medfield's Conor Roddy and Westwood's Will Ribas, a freshman, each stood on their heads – allowing just one goal apiece in 57 minutes of play. VIDEO: Medfield Completes Third Perfect TVL Season in Four Years

The Medfield High School girls’ basketball team dismantled Millis, 73-24 Friday to complete its second straight perfect season in the Tri-Valley League.

A perfect season in the Tri-Valley League may not be anything new for the _Medfield High School_ girls’ basketball team but it never gets old either. “It's great,” said Medfield head coach Mark Nickerson after Friday's 73-24 win over Millis. "The girls have been talking about it for awhile, if you've been around the Tri-Valley League for a long time you talk about Westwood. The Westwood girls dominated the league, they had 19 seasons in a row of being undefeated, which I can't even fathom that. ... We're starting to become a little bit like they used to be." VIDEO: Defense Sparks 'Team Win' as Medfield Beats Holliston, 54-32

The Medfield High School girls' basketball team improved to 16-0, 14-0 this season with Friday's win.

The Medfield High School girls' basketball team is closing in on a fourth straight Tri-Valley League title. The Warriors (16-0, 14-0) defeated TVL foe Holliston, 54-32 Friday, putting the team one win away from earning a share of the 2011-2012 TVL title. Medfield can clinch that share of the league title Tuesday in Westwood when the Warriors take the court against the Wolverines at 5 p.m. Medfield defeated Westwood, 66-29 on Jan. 6. "It'd be nice to win it against [Westwood] after all the league title they've won, it'd be nice to clinch it at their place," said Medfield head coach Mark Nickerson. Medfield looks to defend its TVL title with youth, depth at key positions on the basketball court this season.

The Medfield High School girls’ basketball team will begin its quest for a fourth straight Tri-Valley League title in Norton on Tuesday, Dec. 13 – tipping off the 2011-2012 season with goals much larger than a league title. “The goal is to win a state championship,” said Medfield girls’ basketball head coach Mark Nickerson. “Winning the league has been nice, it’d be nice to win the league again but Hopkinton didn’t win the league and ended up playing in the [TD Garden]. I would have traded places with them. PHOTOS: Medfield Makes Quick Work of Millis on Senior Night; Ready for Tourney

The Medfield High School girls’ volleyball team defeated Millis, 3-0 Wednesday to finish the regular season 15-4, 12-1 and will host Milford Friday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 Central-East State Tournament.

Jack Hastings said his Medfield High School girls’ volleyball team is ready for the state tournament and that was evident after Wednesday’s decisive 3-0 victory over Millis. “One season’s done and the other season starts,” Hastings said. “Hopefully we will be able to continue what we’re doing now and continue into the tournament.” Medfield made quick work of the Mohawks, 3-0, (25-6, 25-4, 25-5) on Senior Night to close out the regular season with a 15-4, 12-1 record. Medfield Boys' Golf Defeats Holliston to Improve to 12-0 This Season

Dave Swanson led Medfield with a 33 as the Warriors beat Holliston, 225-271.

The Medfield High School boys’ golf team continued its dominance atop the Tri-Valley League with a 225-271 victory over Holliston at Pinecrest Golf Club Wednesday afternoon. Medfield’s Dave Swanson led the team with a 33. Brett Thomas (36), Cal Given (36) and Pat O’Reilly (38) all shot under 40. With the win, the Warriors improve to 12-0 this season and host Westwood Thursday at 3 p.m. in Canton.

Medfield Girls' Soccer Settles for Draw Against Streaking Norton

Medfield (8-0-2) scored first but settled for a 1-1 draw against Norton Wednesday.

Medfield's blazing hot offense cooled off against Norton Wednesday but the defense rose to the occassion in a 1-1 draw with the Lancers. Wednesday's result extended streaks for both teams. Medfield (8-0-2) remained unbeaten on the season and the Lancers, after a dreadful 0-3-0 start to the year, extending its unbeaten streak to seven games. Norton's defense, behind goalkeeper Jennifer Kilburn, was able to hold off a vicious offensive attack by Medfield. “It's just nice to have a young keeper just kind of step up to this level and change the game,” said Norton coach Todd Kefor. Medfield Football Goes for First Win Against Improved Ashland Team

The Medfield High School football team travels to Ashland Friday for a 7 p.m. game.

It is week three of the high school football season and Medfield is searching for its first win. The Warriors (0-2, 0-0) take the field against a familiar opponent Friday, facing Tri-Valley League foe Ashland (2-0, 0-0) at 7 p.m. on the Clockers’ field. Ashland, a team that has struggled in recent years, is 2-0 and playing well, according to Medfield head coach Erik Ormberg. “We expect a balanced attack,” Ormberg said. “They run and throw the ball well. Colin Daly is a playmaker at running back, they have an accurate quarterback and their offensive line gets off the ball. They are the most balanced Ashland team in years.” Ormberg said this year’s Clockers’ squad brings a balanced attack on offense that Medfield will not overlook. “Balance …
