Student Council created a Thank You note for Lord's Department store which will be closing on Feb. 28.
In recognition of the closing of Lord's Department Store, the Medfield High School Student Council created a huge Thank You card to thank the store for its years of support to the schools. Last week, students and faculty signed the 28x22 sign made of poster board that was, ironically, purchased at Lord's, said Student Council member Blake Brown. Most of these MHS students have grown up with Lord's one-stop-shopping from birthday cards and gifts, to Medfield sweatshirts and socks, to candy and soda stops on half-days of school. For some students, working at Lord's was their first job. And the majority of those high school students have been buying their school supplies at Lord's for years. An annual tradition often noted in the Lord's…

The Medfield High School Student Council organized a fundraiser that raised $2,180 for the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
To the Editor, I'm contacting you on behalf of the Medfield High School Student Council to inform you that the Student Council led a Red Cross Hurricane Sandy relief effort last Friday, November 2. Sophomore Student Council representative Michael Colivas made a montage of photographs of Hurricane Sandy's wreckage and we showed it to all students and teachers, encouraging everyone to donate $1. We figured that if everyone contributed $1, we would reach our goal of $1,000. To our surprise, with the help of MHS students, faculty and the Medfield community, we raised $2,180...surpassing our goal by $1,180! Although we already informally thanked the student body and faculty for their generous donations, we feel it would be appropriate for the…

Evan Berry, the MHS school committee representative and a member of the Class of 2012, thanked the School Committee for his time on the committee.
At his final school committee meeting last month, Student Council Representative (and Class of 2012 graduate) Evan Berry thanked the Medfield School Committee for the opportunity to serve on the board. “Being on the school committee has been awesome,” he told the committee at its June meeting. “When you’re in Kindergarten, you don’t understand how much goes into your education, you just see what goes on in the classroom and, even now in high school, it’s such an interesting perspective to see really how special a place Medfield is,” he said. Berry said that he has been touched personally by his experience in Medfield and it makes him want to go into education. He said he referenced much of his experience in his graduation speech given …

Powderpuff football has returned to Medfield High School. Over 100 girls from the Medfield High School junior and senior classes participated in a powderpuff football game to benefit the student council. The seniors took the bragging rights on this night, defeating the juniors, 42-14. Alex Opiela, Medfield High School senior and quarterback of the football team, recorded his first career win as a head coach. Student council was able to raise $96 through the Alumni Association raffle and members have began discussing the possiblity of including girls from Dover-Sherborn in a powderpuff game between schools next year, according to Rose Sievewright, a MHS junior and co-organizer of the event.
