Medfield Once Again Playing its Best Lacrosse in June

Medfield travels to Foxborough today for the MIAA Division 2 East Sectional semi-finals, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The Medfield High School boys’ lacrosse team finds itself in familiar territory in what otherwise has been anything but a familiar season. Medfield (14-7) and Foxborough (19-3) square off Friday at Foxborough High with a trip to the MIAA Division 2 East Sectional State Tournament final on the line. That should come as little surprise to those familiar with the success of the Medfield boys’ lacrosse program. The Warriors entered this year’s tournament as defending state champions and have won four state titles since 2004. While no stranger to success in the state tournament, there were questions about how these Warriors’ would play and how long they would last after a regular season that had its share of ups and downs. Medfield failed to …

On a hot an blistering day in Medfield, it was Foxborough High that handed the MHS girls' tennis team its first loss of the season, 3-2, to advance to the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional Final. Medfield's three singles players faced a greater challenge than  the heat Wednesday – Foxborough's singles players, who entered the semi-final round unbeaten in team play. That trio of players kept their record intact, defeating each of Medfield's singles players to earn three team points. “The singles matches were all pretty decisive but even though we were ahead in each set you know you can't take it for granted on a day like [Wednesday] when it's really hot,” said Foxborough Coach Peter Prinos. “You just got to win every point and get off the …

Medfield Eliminates Top Seeded Wellesley from State Tourney in Boys' Lax

Warriors beat Wellesley, 7-5 in the MIAA Division 2 East Sectional State Tournament Tuesday. Will play Foxboro in Friday's semi-final.

Another year of the same for the Medfield and Wellesley boys' lacrosse teams in the state tournament as the Warriors eliminated the Raiders Tuesday, 7-5 in the MIAA Division 2 East Sectional State Tournament quarterfinals.   In 2006, the Wellesley High School boys' lacrosse team defeated Medfield in the East Division 2 tournament and went on to capture the state title. Since then, Medfield has ended Wellesley's tourney run every year and that tradition continued Tuesday. It took a fourth-quarter rally, but Medfield found a way to prevail over the bracket's top seed and keep its streak against the Raiders intact.  “I would like to say it was my unbelievable coaching, but I think it was just their motivation,” Medfield head coach Bob Aronson…

Medfield Baseball Ends 14-Year TVL Title Drought

The Warriors are Tri-Valley League Champions for the first time since 1997.

Before the 2011 season began for the Medfield High School baseball team, head coach Matt Marenghi said the club's goals were to “play good baseball and make the state tournament.” Mission accomplished. The Warriors achieved both those regular season goals but in the process also achieved something it hasn’t done in 14 seasons – win the Tri-Valley League. For the first time in four seasons, there is a new TVL champion and that team is Medfield. The Warriors won their first TVL title since 1997 on May 20, when they defeated Ashland, 11-1 at Curt Schilling Field. The victory was the Warriors’ 14th of the season – they ended the year with 16 – in the TVL and effectively put an end to Hopkinton’s four-year reign atop the league. “Winning the …
