Sox Manager More Popular Than Mother Teresa and Santa Claus

Massachusetts also largely supports Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination in 2016.

Bay Staters like Hillary Clinton and support same-sex marriage, but nothing compares to their love of Red Sox Manager John Farrell. The Sox manager received the lowest disapproval percentage in Public Policy Polling history – even better than Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa and Santa Claus. What a difference a year makes for the Sox. The team’s hot start has 27 percent of those who took the survey predicting a World Series. Only 3 percent said the Sox will not make the playoffs. Sixty-four percent of those surveyed said Farrell is doing a good job. Only 1 percent disapproved of Farrell’s work this year. This is the lowest disapproval rating Public Policy Polling has ever seen. In comparison, in a national poll in November, Lincoln was …

Dear Lord's: What About Santa?

In this column, you ask questions, and Patch finds the answers.

The big topic on everyone's mind these days is Lord's Department Store, the iconic downtown store is closing next month after 73 years in business. We know how the closing will affect adults, but one Patch reader said it will also affect children, and asked, "What about Santa? "Not sure if any other Medfield moms are wondering but, what about Santa?...For as long as we've lived here, we've taken our children to see Santa on the first Friday in December. I have all the old Polaroids dated, and I treasure them and the experience itself. My kids labor over their Christmas lists which they go over with Santa in as much detail as they can on that evening! The man in the suit may have changed over the years but Santa's backdrop and the "throne…

As the photographer who has worked with Santa Claus these past 10 years or so at Lord's, I am also sad that this tradition will be no longer. I have many, many fond memories of young children's faces as they gazed up at Santa's face but also recall some screaming babies who were placed on his lap and wondered why? It has been a pleasure to be Santa's photographer for these many years and I will …   more ›

Santa arrives at Lord's on Friday night!

Santa Claus makes his annual visit to Lord's Department Store.

Santa didn't disappoint!  As busy as Santa is this time of year, he was still able to travel from the North Pole to Medfield and spend some time at Lord's Department Store.  He was seen talking with the children, taking some Christmas lists and having his photo taken with those that believe...both young and old. While Santa was posing for photos, many locals shopped at Lord's annual "Midnight Madness" sale. Medfield's "social event of the year" was a huge success and while shoppers were enjoying shopping for discounted items, Santa could be seen flying back to the North Pole. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Click "view larger map," to see an overview of his appearances as well as details about each visit. Know of a place Santa's public relations team has neglected to share with us? Hardman: Hey Santa, I believe in You

Columnist still believes in Santa Claus despite no big screen TV.

Dear Santa, How have you been? I hope this letter finds both you and Mrs. Claus in good health. I've been meaning to write you my list for this year, but I've been kinda of busy with this Patch thing. Anyway, for the last 20 years or so, I've asked for a big-screen TV, and I'm still waiting. I know I haven't always been good. Just the other day, a nice police officer pulled me over because I forgot to put my registration sticker on my license plate. It was due in July. Procrastination is a problem. I'm not exactly neat around the house. I have this bad habit of making a mess in the kitchen when I cook breakfast. I know my wife has spoken to you about this on more than one occasion. In fact, I think it has been one of her Christmas wishes. …

Medfield's Annual Santa Parade Set for Dec. 3

MEMO's annual holiday parade begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 outside of Blake Middle School.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will make their annual visit to Medfield on Saturday, Dec. 3 during the town's holiday parade sponsored by MEMO. The parade will begin at Blake Middle School at 1 p.m., with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus accompanied by six of their elves, chosen by lottery at the annual tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 2. They will be riding through town on the sleigh at the end of MEMO’s Christmas parade. These holiday events, sponsored by the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization, MEMO, are the traditional opening of Medfield’s holiday season. The parade also consists of hundreds of Medfield Brownies and Girl Scouts following the sirens on fire trucks and accompanied, weather permitting, by the Medfield High School band and …
