New Police and Fire Station Discussed

Very preliminary estimates suggest the public safety complex could cost $15 million.

The Permanent Building Committee held the first of a series of public information sessions on Monday night to discuss the town's need for updated public safety facilities.The fire station was built in 1960 and the police department was built in 1977. Discussions are part of an overall long-range permanent building plan that would address town buildings in the North/Dale/Adams Streets area, including the town recreation center (at the Pfaff Center) and the Dale Street School (and the possibility of a new elementary school).  "We're in the data collection mode where we're just trying to learn what the needs are," said Bill Hammer of HKT Architects, noting the current police and fire stations are "old, they're inadequate, and they're not …

He what a surprise, it seems Medfield must have a reason for tax increase every year so now it's the police and fire station. Don't get me wrong, I thing Fire and police should be top priority behind maintenance and last the schools. But now my property taxes are out of control. Park & Rec’s Kinder Basketball Off to a Fast Start

The popular program attracted 54 Kindergarten children last Saturday.

The following was submitted by Park and Recreation Program Coordinator Kevin Ryder.  The popular Kinder Basketball League through the Medfield Parks & Recreation Department got off to a fast start Saturday morning, with 54 Kindergarteners on six teams participating in practices and games at the Memorial School gymnasium. Splashed in their team colors – red, orange, Kelly green, charcoal, royal blue and gold – the players were put through drills by the volunteer parent coaches, including passing, dribbling, defense and shooting.  Once practice was over, each team participated in a game, where fun and learning the basic rules were emphasized. The league will run throughout the winter and into early April on Saturday mornings from 9am to noon…

PHOTOS: MPR Halloween Party

The Medfield Parks and Recreation Department held its annual Halloween party on Wednesday night.

Ghosts and goblins of all shapes and sizes enjoyed the Medfield Parks and Recreation Department's annual Halloween party on Wednesday.  The event was geared toward children ages 3 to 12 and included pumpkin decorating, candy corn relay race, pumpkin bowling, arts and crafts, and haunted musical chairs.  This year's costumes included witches, superheros, flowers, butterflies and more. Check out the photos in our photo gallery -- they are sure to put you in the Halloween mood.
