Admiral Jeff Cook will Offer this Year's Memorial Day Address

Admiral Cook is a 1964 graduate of Medfield High School. He earned his Navy Wings in 1970 after which he flew F4 Phantoms and F-14 Tomcats completing over 500 aircraft carrier landings.

The following information was provided by Medfield's Veterans' Services Officer Ron Griffin. On Monday, May 27, Medfield citizens will join together to honor those who gave their lives in defense of our freedom.  The parade will start at 9:45 a.m. behind the Medfield Town House on Janes Ave, marching directly to Baxter Park where a brief ceremony will be conducted beginning at 10 a.m.   American Legion Post 110 invites all active duty service personnel (please wear your uniform), all Reservists and National Guard members (please also wear your uniform) and all veterans to join their members as they march up to Baxter Park.  If your uniform still fits, please wear it, otherwise it is suggested veterans wear some kind of Veterans hat, a …

MEMO Sponsors Numerous Holiday Events

The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization sponsors many holiday events this year. Here is just a smattering. If there's something missing from the list, tell us about it in the comment section.

It's the MEMOst wonderful time of the year...  The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization (MEMO) will kick the holiday season into full swing next week with many holiday events.  In preparation for the festivities, last weekend MEMO volunteers helped Henry Marcel install approximately 8,000 holiday lights at Baxter Park and Town Hall. Each year, MEMO installs and sponsors the lights for the Holiday Tree Lighting and also runs the event.   Next week's schedule of MEMO-sponsored events includes:  The contest is open to soloists in the following categories:  Pre K – 5th Grade, Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12 and duets and ensembles from all grades. Still Tickets Available for Pfaff Halloween Party on Wednesday

You can still buy tickets on-line or at the door for the Oct. 24th event.

  The Medfield Parks and Recreation Department's annual Halloween party will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pfaff Center. The cost is $10 per family, and pre-registration is suggested to guarantee a pumpkin for your little ghost or goblin. The event is recommended for ages 3 to 12 years old. Organizers say this is not a drop-off event. "Attendees get a pumpkin to decorate, can play the games we'll have (like pumpkin bowling, candy corn relay race and haunted musical chairs) as well as arts and crafts," said Program Coordinator Kevin Ryder. Community Gathers to Celebrate Holiday Season

Town shows holiday cheer at annual events.

Turning on the 'lights' for the holidays A cold, crisp winter evening did not keep families and friends from gathering in Baxter Park on Dec. 3 for the town's annual tree lighting ceremony. Children took the stage to sing a variety of Christmas carols while others in attendance viewed the many lights around the park, signaling the beginning of the holiday season. While the lighting of the town tree was the spotlight of the evening, there was another tree of significance on this night. Strung with blue lights, the other tree of importance that drew a loud cheer from the crowd was the one dedicated to and lit for the Medfield High School girls' volleyball and girls' soccer state championship teams.
