Junior Seau's family is suing the NFL and President Obama says that, if he had a son, he would think twice before letting him play football.
The issue of concussions in football is back in the forefront of people’s minds now that: In an article released on Jan. 27, President Obama told The Republican, I'm a big football fan, but I have to tell you if I had a son, I'd have to think long and hard before I let him play football...I tend to be more worried about college players than NFL players in the sense that the NFL players have a union, they're grown men, they can make some of these decisions on their own, and most of them are well-compensated for the violence they do to their bodies. There are few days better for sports fans than the NFL's Championship Sunday. At day's end, the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC) champions will be crowned and secure their spots in Super Bowl XLVI. At 3 p.m., our New England Patriots will be taking on the Baltimore Ravens in nearby Foxborough with a chance to advance to its fifth Super Bowl in 10 years. Patriots Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for former Medfield resident and Patriots' quarterback Drew Bledsoe and former Patriots star Jon Morris will be held Sept. 17 at Patriot Place in Foxborough.

Drew Bledsoe and Jon Morris are the Patriots 2011 Hall of Fame inductees. Both will be honored in a ceremony outside The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon at 5pm on Saturday, Sept. 17. The event, which takes place the day before the Patriots 2011 regular season home opener versus the San Diego Chargers, is free and open to the public. Bledsoe and Morris will receive their red Patriots Hall of Fame blazers and their Hall of Fame trophies. They will also have the opportunity to speak to their fans, who will gather on Patriot Place Plaza for the ceremony. My opinion about football at the adult level is this: I saw Wes Welker get head butted twice during the playoffs directly in front of the referee and neither hit was called. The referee should be fined just as the football player should be fined, heavily. Until they get serious about it the dirty players will continue to do it and the refs will continue to let it slide.   more ›
