Composer Matt Aucoin Talks About Life After MHS Jazz Band

Aucoin is a composer and conductor affiated with the Metropolitan Opera and the American Repertory Theatre.

  Medfield High School Alumnus and composer/conductor Matt Aucoin will hold a discussion in the MHS auditorium on Wednesday, March 13 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aucoin, a 2008 MHS graduate, will meet with the MHS Jazz Band before practice to talk about his musical career as a pianist, composer and conductor.  The public is invited and welcome to attend. After graduating from Medfield High School (with an Ellington soloist award for piano to kick-start his resume), Aucoin attended Harvard, and studied at Tanglewood, Rome Opera and Julliard. He is a composer and conductor affiliated with Metropolitan Opera and, most recently, the American Repertory Theater. His presentation will explore how jazz training is deeply applicable for life beyond MHS …

MHS Boys Hockey Clinches TVL Championship [PHOTOS]

Medfield won over Dover-Sherborn 5-0

  The Medfield High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team has clinched the Tri-Valley League Championship title. The final score of Wednesday's game against Dover-Sherborn was 5-0, according to MassHSHockey.com.   Tyler Etzkorn (#22-captain) scored two of the goals to clinch the TVL championship, according to one spectator.  Were you at the game? Historic Comeback for Big Blue

MHS Boys Basketball Team captures a 58-55 win at Bellingham.

On Tuesday, Medfield High School's Big Blue Basketball team made an historic comeback in a game against Bellingham. Down by 26 points in the first half, the Medfield Boys Big Blue stormed back and captured a 58-55 win at Bellingham.   It certainly was a tale of two halves.   Bellingham shot the lights out in the first half, hitting eight three-point shots. Down 38-13 at the half, the Big Blue came out and outscored Bellingham 31-4 in the third quarter to capture the lead.    Drew Shea led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points, Matt Pembroke had 13, Remy Fragola had 12, and …

Kayla Feinberg Makes Deans List at High Point University

Feinberg is a 2010 graduate of Medfield High School.

  Kayla Feinberg, a 2010 graduate from Medfield High School, made the Dean's List at High Point University for the Fall 2012 semester. MHS: Thrilling Win for Big Blue

Medfield had a thrilling win against Dover-Sherborn on Dec. 21.

The boy's varsity basketball team had a thrilling win on Friday night (Dec. 21) over Dover-Sherborn with a final score of Medfield 68 - D.S. 66.   Down by six points midway through the fourth quarter, the team came back and showed a resilient effort versus a quality Dover-Sherborn team.  Drew Shea lead the Big Blue with 24 points, John Zimmerman had 20 points and 14 rebounds.  Remy Fragola chipped in with 11 points.    John Pendergast, Matt Pembroke and Matt Cahill had strong defensive games.

MHS Field Hockey Team Plays Thursday Night at Home

The Medfield Field Hockey Team will host East Bridgewater Thursday at 6:30pm.

Click here to find out how.  The Medfield High School Varsity Field Hockey Team will host East Bridgewater on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. The game will be played under the lights at the turf field behind Medfield High School. Medfield is the 14th Seed and East Bridgewater is the 19th Seed in the MIAA Tournament. This is a preliminary round and the winner will face Dover Sherborn on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. at Dover Sherborn. For more information about the seedings and playoff brackets, click here.

Medfield Field Hockey Wins Over Needham

The Lady Warriors are now 7-4-3 and will play at Medway this afternoon.

Click here to find out how.  The Medfield Warrior Field Hockey team won a close one on Tuesday over Needham 1-0. In a non-league matchup, the teams battled to a 0-0 halftime score. Then, about halfway through the second half, Senior Captain Lily Beardsley found the back of the goal after a mad scramble arouind the front of the net. She was assisted by Sophomore Colleen Gair. Getting the shutout in net for the Warriors was Senior Captain Carrie Cook -- this was her 9th shutout of the season. The Lady Warriors are now 7-4-3 and play at Medway today and then host Hopkinton Friday afternoon.

Two Medfield High School Destination ImagiNation Teams headed for Global Finals

Two Medfield High School “Destination ImagiNation” teams recently won a state competition to compete in the Global Finals, which will be held in May.

From a live “coming attractions” movie trailer to a community service oriented “project outreach,” Medfield High School Destination Imagination (DI) teams have been working hard since last fall to think creatively and critically and were recently rewarded at the Massachusetts State DI Tournament with winning scores. The two state champion MHS teams, with 34 other winning teams from across Massachusetts, are setting their sights on the Global Finals Destination Imagination competition in May. PHOTOS: Jackie Flint Leads Medfield Softball to Victory over D-S

Freshman's effort on the mound and at the plate sparks 13-2 victory Wednesday.

Medfield softball coach Travis Taliaferro said freshman Jackie Flint had a "monter game" in the Warriors' 13-2 victory over rival Dover-Sherborn Wednesday. He wasn't exageratting. Flint went 4-for-4 with two RBI at the plate and picked up her first career victory on the mound, limiting D-S hitters to just two runs while striking out seven. "I was really proud of Jackie's performance because D-S put runners on in every inning, and played aggressively until the end," Taliaferro. Medfield was fueled by a six-run first inning, keyed by a bases-clearing triple by Lucy Allen enroute to a four RBI day and reaching base four times. Jessi O'Loughlin scored two runs.
