Town Asks State for State Hospital Details and Documents

Town officials have requested documents related to the former Medfield State Hospital as well as a detailed analysis of the property.

The town has asked the state for documents and answers associated with the former Medfield State Hospital. The letter dated today was sent to Commissioner Carole Cornelison at the Division of Capital Asset Management from the Board of Selectmen. Based on recommendations of the newly-formed State Hospital Redevelopment Committee, the selectmen have asked DCAM to: -  Perform updated building surveys on a representative selection of buildings at the former hospital site including a detailed analysis of hazardous material remediation requirements and an analysis of the possibility of renovation in accordance with National Park Service rehabilitation standards applicable to historic properties; - Provide the town with a copy of the …

Medfield's State Hospital Redevelopment Committee Finalized; Mediation Team Meets with Mediator

Medfield’s Board of Selectmen formally appointed 10 members to the State Hospital Redevelopment Committee, reviewed the board’s mission statement for the committee and was updated on other news related to the state hospital.

The Medfield Board of Selectmen discussed what it plans to task the 10 members appointed to the newly reestablished State Hospital Redevelopment Committee with while studying suitable reuses for the property. The selectmen reviewed the proposed mission statement at Tuesday's meeting for the Redevelopment Committee after appointing the volunteer group's 10th member. Marc R. Verreault was appointed to the committee Tuesday in addition to the nine members that agreed to serve last week. Nine Volunteers Agree to Serve on Medfield State Hospital Redevelopment Committee

Medfield Town Administrator Michael Sullivan is awaiting the decision of two more candidates and the selectmen's mission statement for the committee.

Nine out of the 12 proposed candidates for the Medfield State Hospital Redevelopment Committee have agreed to serve, according to Assistant Town Administrator Kristine Trierweiler. As of Monday, Trierweiler said Medfield resident Anthony Centore, a retired civil engineer, was the only candidate to decline the town’s invitation to join the committee. The town is also awaiting the replies of two other candidates – Joseph Fallon, managing partner of Cassidy Turley Commercial Real Estate Services and Brian McKenzie, partner of Richards Barry Joyce & Partners, LLC. “All the rest have accepted,” Trierweiler said. Selectmen Appoint State Hospital Redevelopment Committee and Debate Medfield Day Permit

The Medfield Board of Selectmen met Tuesday at Town Hall to discuss the following town business.

Correction (Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2:57 p.m.): Medfield's Mediation Committee will be meeting in closed session with the mediator in the coming weeks and not DCAM regarding the mediation of cleanup at the former Medfield State Hospital. The tentative date was Tuesday, May 7 but Assistant Town Administrator Kristine Trierweiler said it will not take place then and is looking to schedule the meeting during the week of May 14. On Tuesday, the Medfield Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to appoint a Medfield State Hospital Redevelopment Committee to review state data in relation to the town’s reuse options for the state hospital property.
