A free Zumba class will be offered at the Medfield Parks and Recreation Department on Tuesday, March 20 from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.
Zumba is coming to Medfield Parks and Recreation this month with a free class being offered on Tuesday, March 20. "We have a new Zumba class starting," said Kevin Ryder, program coordinator of Medfield Parks and Recreation. "The instructor is going to run a free class the week before [it starts] to kind of introduce people to it and generate some interest." The free class will be held Tuesday, March 20 from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. in the President's Room of the Pfaff Center. Instructor Meghan Collins will lead the adult fitness class. The regular classes will begin the following week and registration will be ongoing. While spring has been in the air for what seems like a couple of months now, the official sign that the season is about to change came when the Boston Red Sox reporting to Fort Myers, Fla. and Medfield's Parks and Recreation began offering its array of spring classes. Classes will start again in March and April, with some new programs being added to the usual stable of classes. The brochure can be found online (www.town.medfield.net) and downloaded onto your computer as a PDF document. By doing using an electronic brochure, the staff can continually update classes, either by date changes or adding classes to the existing schedule. The Medfield Parks and Recreation Department's annual children’s clothing and equipment sale will be held this year on Saturday, March 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. TO SELL To sell your gently used children’s clothing or equipment, you must purchase tags which are for sale in the Medfield Parks and Recreation office at 124 North St., Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You must be a Medfield resident to sell items. Clothing tags are $2 per 25 tags. Equipment tags are $1 per five tags. You will receive 65 percent of the proceeds from all items sold, the remaining 35 percent is utilized throughout the year to improve Parks and Recreation facilities and/or programs. The Medfield Parks and Recreation facility recently underwent renovations to improve and cleanup its interior look.
For the first time in nearly 40 years, the Medfield Recreation Department underwent renovations to its interior and Parks and Recreation Director James Snyder is pleased with the results (see photos). “Basically, for $8,500 we almost have a brand new building, which is relatively short money,” Snyder said. The public, according to Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator Kevin Snyder, is equally pleased with the new look of the Pfaff Center. “The look is great,” Ryder said. “A number of people that have come in have said it’s almost like a new building. While the calendar says the end of December, the weather has felt more like fall around town. Despite the non-winter weather, the Medfield Parks and Recreation Department is looking forward to 2012 and the start of the winter session of programming. Classes will start again at the beginning of January with some new programs being added to the usual stable of classes. Registration open for Medfield Parks and Recreation's second session of fall programs.
The cool brisk air in the morning and the leaves changing into vibrant colors means fall is officially here and the Medfield Parks and Recreation Department is holding registrations for its second session of fall programs at the Pfaff Center. The start of the second session of fall programs is happening over the coming weeks and the recreation department will be offering something for everyone, from toddlers through senior citizens.
