Seniors Enjoy 30th Annual Christmas Party

Medfield seniors enjoyed the annual event on Sunday.

Medfield seniors enjoyed the 30th annual Tri-Club Christmas Party at the American Legion on Sunday. The event was sponsored by the Medfield American Legion, the Medfield Lions Club, and the Medfield Sportsman's Club. "It's a nice day, it's a feel-good day," said Ken Heavey, a Lion who has been running the event for 15 years.  "It's a sea of [holiday] red here; it's a nice time." Basil Restaurant catered the event which sells out every year at 180 seniors.  This year's guests also included about 10 people from the Thomas Upham House. Desserts were prepared by the Medfield Legion Auxiliary, spirits were donated by Wally Shackley, poinsettias were donated by Medfield Properties, and decorations were provided by the Sons of Legion. …

Need Help Raking Your Yard? The Lions and Community Teens Can Help

Medfield Lions Club and Medfield High School Community Teens are offering a free service by which they will remove leaves for Medfield residents who are elderly, experiencing financial hardship, or physically unable to perform the chores.

Do you have too many leaves in your yard and cannot do the cleanup yourself, or maybe you can't afford to hire someone to remove the leaves? That's where the MHS Community Teens and Medfield Lions come in.   They can help you rake leaves, compost them in your backyard, or have Greg Kay’s Shady Tree Landscaping Service vacuum the leaves at your curb. This year's fall clean-up event will be Saturday, Nov. 10 with a morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, and an afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.   There is no cost for the clean-up service which is intended for Medfield residents who are elderly, experiencing financial hardship, or physically unable to perform the chores. MHS Community Teens and Medfield Lions to Hold Car Wash on May 19

The Medfield High School Community Teens organization and the Medfield Lions will be holding a car wash on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Medfield Town Hall. Proceeds from the car wash will support two charitable causes – the Children’s Hospital in Boston and the care package initiative with the Medfield Neighbor Brigade (formerly the Medfield Angels) to support local families who are facing a hardship or a temporary crisis. Medfield Lions: No Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast this Year

Medfield Lions Club president Steve Kramer said declining attendance over the past couple years led to the organization’s decision not to hold its annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast at the American Legion this year.

Declining attendance over the years has led to the Medfield Lions Club’s decision not to hold its annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast at the American Legion this year. “Over the past several years, attendance at the breakfast has diminished from several hundred to less than two hundred,” said Medfield Lions president Steve Kramer. “The Lions conduct many fundraising and charity events during the year and with the available resources we have – we like to maximize the number of those who can take advantage of our events and programs. Last Chance: Ladies Night Out at Zullo Gallery

The Medfield Lions will host a "Ladies Night Out" at the Zullo Gallery on Wednesday, April 11 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. to raise funds for local families facing hardships.

What could be better than a glass of wine with friends, some cheese, a little chocolate and a manicure while contributing to help some local Medfield families? The Medfield Lions invite you to “A Ladies Night Out” at the Zullo Art Gallery on Wednesday, April 11 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. A $25 all-inclusive fee will be payable at Zullo’s front door on Wednesday to enjoy a selection of premium wines and soft drinks, cheese and crackers and wonderful chocolates. Also ladies will be treated to a mini-manicure, which will be available throughout the evening and an opportunity to view the new exhibit at the gallery. “A Ladies Night Out” is a fundraising event to support the Medfield Lions’ efforts to help local families who are facing hardships. Medfield Lions Add Three New Members

Three new members were inducted into the Medfield Lions Club at its February meeting last week. Vice District Governor and Medfield Lion member Tom Kerr conducted the initiation ceremony as Lee Tredway, Greg Hobbs and Robert Mulrey became members of the club, which now has 79 active members, the largest in District K. Medfield Lions Raised $7K at Annual Christmas Tree Sale

Medfield Lions raised $7,200 during its annual Christmas Tree Sale – all for charity.

Medfield Lion, Anthony Centore, called the organization's annual Christmas Tree Sale a "success" after it raised $7,200 this past December. "The Medfield Lions would like to thank all those who purchased their Christmas trees at our annual sale this year," Centore said. "Through your generosity, the Club raised over $7,200, every penny of which goes to charity. We would also like to thank the Wilder Companies, who graciously hosted our sale at Shaw’s Plaza, and Colwell Homes, which provided temporary power during the sale." Among the Lions charities are global efforts against blindness and recovery from natural disasters, as well as local efforts like the Medfield Home Committee. Medfield Lions Donate Chowder Fest Proceeds to FOSI

Last November, the Medfield Lions Club teamed up with the Friends of Seniors Inc. (FOSI) to host Medfield’s Third Annual Chowder Fest. The event featured comforting chowder tastings from seven area restaurants/markets including Basils, Noon Hill Grill, Zebra’s Bistro & Wine Bar, Fresh Catch Seafood, J&L Catering of Medway, and Roches Market. Delicious rolls were provided by Blue Moon Bagel Café. Thanks to their generosity, the event was a great success. The winner of “Best Chowder” was J&L Catering of Medway. At the January Lions Dinner Meeting, Lion Tony Centore presented a check for $1,500 to FOSI President Bill Johnson, who said “the funds raised will help to enhance the outdoor patio at the Center.” Roberta Lynch, Council On Aging …

Medfield Seniors Enjoy Annual Christmas Party

On Dec. 11, over 180 Medfield seniors celebrated the holiday season at the American Legion Hall earlier this month.

Earlier this month, over 180 Medfield seniors gathered at Medfield's Legion Hall to celebrate the season with good cheer and fellowship provided by the Medfield American Legion, the Medfield Lions, the Medfield Sportsman’s Club, the Medfield Council on Aging and F.O.S.I. Seniors were greeted by the Lions and then entertained by members of the Medfield High School Jazz Band. The Medfield Legion Auxiliary made delicious creamy desserts. Working the hall setup was Al Manganello ,legion manager, while the Medfield Lions, under the direction of Lion Ken Heavey, provided table service.
