The 2011-2012 winter athletic seasons at Medfield High School began this past Saturday with the track and swim teams in action. The rest of the Warriors get underway this week. Medfield Gut Camp Awards

Medfield High School varsity football coach Erik Ormberg the seven week conditioning camp called Gut Camp, which concluded on Aug. 18.

Here are the award winners Gut Camp, a seven week conditioning camp run by Medfield High School varsity football coach Erik Ormberg, Kevin Gavaghan and Brian Gavaghan. The camp, which concluded on Aug. 18, involved weight lifting, stretching, distance and sprint running. The sessions were held Monday through Thursday from 6:15 to 8:15 a.m. and began on July 5. Here are the camp’s award winners: Rookie of the Year: Brandon Salas The Terminator Award: Ryan Spillane and Patrick Smith   The Courage Award: Lauren Casieri The Effort Exceeds Ability Award: David Coughlin The first week of fall athletic practices for Medfield High School begin this week.

Medfield Coach Aims to Create 'Community of Competitors'

Erik Ormberg takes over the Medfield High School football program hoping to build a sense of pride, community and bond in a competitive and exciting environment.

Erik Ormberg found his identity in something he loved – football – and has the opportunity to share that passion every day as the new head coach of the Medfield High School football team.  While this is Ormberg's first year as a head coach, he has a wealth of football experience, including over a decade in the Medfield High School program. Ormberg has experience in all three phases of the game but says he has an affinity for defense.  "I played defense, defense is what I coached for 10 years as a coordinator," said Ormberg. "Being the defensive coordinator would assume you’re comfortable with that side of it but the other thing is your constantly scheming against the offense, so when the transition [to head coach] took place, I figured …
