Medfield's Outstanding Volunteers Recognized

The Medfield Foundation recognized all residents nominated as outstanding volunteers.

  A reception was held on Sunday afternoon at The Center at Medfield to recognize all those nominated as Outstanding Volunteers for the Medfield Foundation's 2013 Volunteer Recognition award.  The event started with a greeting from Rep. Joe Kennedy III who presented the winners -- Katrina Simon, Beth Eby, Ann Thompson and Al Manganello -- with an American flag flown over the State House. Rep. Denise Garlick presented state proclamations to the award recipients along with Parker Winslow who represented his father, Rep. Dan Winslow; and Johnna Cart, a legislative aide for Sen. Outstanding Volunteers to be Recognized by Medfield Foundation

The Medfield Foundation will recognize all residents nominated as Outstanding Volunteers at a reception to be held on March 10.

  The following individuals were nominated as Outstanding Volunteers for the Medfield Foundation's 2013 Volunteer Recognition award.  A reception will be held in their honor on Sunday, March 10 at 4 p.m. at The Center at Medfield. Those nominated include: Youth Volunteer of the Year Katrina Simon for work with the Mass. Alzheimer’s Assoc., Medfield Youth Action Committee, China student exchanges, MHS Chinese Club, Downtown Study Committee, political campaigns, and The Zullo Gallery Greg Lyons for tutoring work at the Medfield High School math lab, MHS Community Teens, P&C Sports Emily Monac for therapeutic horseback riding work at BiNA Farm, MHS Community Teens, and HOBY Youth Leadership Volunteer of the Year Beth Eby for her work with the…

Beth Eby Named 2013 Volunteer of the Year

Eby and others will be honored by the Medfield Foundation at a reception on March 10.

  The following press release was submitted by the Medfield Foundation. The Medfield Foundation proudly recognizes Beth Eby as its 2013 Volunteer of the Year for her “unfailingly diligent and tireless advocacy for the clients” of the Medfield Food Cupboard (MFC). “Beth devotes endless, days, nights and weekends working tirelessly to ensure that the MFC clients are well taken care of, both physically and emotionally,” say Medfield Foundation representatives.  Beth Eby began volunteering at the inception of the MFC in 1992 and has been President of the MFC for the last 15 years. She is the central organizer and contact for the MFC's board of directors, its 75 volunteers, as well as its many community partners, partnerships she mainly created…

Today is Deadline to Nominate Volunteer of the Year

Do you know a Medfield resident who should be recognized for their extraordinary volunteer efforts in town? Have you nominated them for Volunteer of the Year?

The following was taken from a press release submitted by the organization. Today, Jan. 25, is the last day to nominate an extraordinary Medfield volunteer for special recognition of their volunteer efforts as the Medfield Foundation Volunteer of the Year – adult, youth, or lifetime achievement.  The form to make the nomination can be found at the Medfield Foundation’s website. If the person was already nominated once before, you can just ask for that former nomination to be re-submitted this year – nothing easier. Angel Run to Take Place on Dec. 2

The Medfield Foundation sponsored Angel Run will take place on Dec. 2 at 2pm at the Wheelock School.

The seventh annual Angel Run, Medfield's popular family-friendly fun event, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Ralph Wheelock School.   The 3.2-mile fun run/walk includes a shorter one-mile loop for those who are interested. The run/walk features jingle bells for sneakers, racecourse decorations, festive attire and entertainment, and will be followed by a post-run celebration at the Wheelock School. The Medfield Foundation Angel Run is a fun-raiser designed to bring members of the extended Medfield community together in a spirit of joy and celebration. It is the unofficial start of the Christmas festivities in Medfield. Registration is $25 per person and you can register on race day at Wheelock.  All proceeds from the run …

Selectmen's Meeting Notes: Thompson Won't Run Again, Beavers to be Trapped, MHS Amnesty International to Hold Vigil

Here's a glance at what happened at the Nov. 20 meeting of the Board of Selectmen.

The Board of Selectmen met Tuesday night to discuss the following business.   APPOINTMENTS Met with Walid M. Makouk who hopes to obtain a taxicab license in Medfield along with his business partner Mohamad Halwani.  Selectmen will get input from the Police Chief and will discuss the matter at their next meeting.  Agreed to allow the Medfield High School's Amnesty International Club to hold a vigil for Malal Yousafzai at the town gazebo on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. ACTION ITEMS Executed a conservation restriction on Lot 3A, Erik Road. The Conservation Commission had previously accepted the restriction. Approved the minutes from the Nov. 6, 2012, selectmen's meeting. Approved the Norfolk Hunt Club's request to hold its annual drag hunt on town land …
