Seniors Enjoy 30th Annual Christmas Party

Medfield seniors enjoyed the annual event on Sunday.

Medfield seniors enjoyed the 30th annual Tri-Club Christmas Party at the American Legion on Sunday. The event was sponsored by the Medfield American Legion, the Medfield Lions Club, and the Medfield Sportsman's Club. "It's a nice day, it's a feel-good day," said Ken Heavey, a Lion who has been running the event for 15 years.  "It's a sea of [holiday] red here; it's a nice time." Basil Restaurant catered the event which sells out every year at 180 seniors.  This year's guests also included about 10 people from the Thomas Upham House. Desserts were prepared by the Medfield Legion Auxiliary, spirits were donated by Wally Shackley, poinsettias were donated by Medfield Properties, and decorations were provided by the Sons of Legion. …

REMINDER: Medfield Lions and Basil's Restaurant Team Up for Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast

Pancake Breakfast to be held on Sunday, May 8 from 8 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Hall at 110 Peter Kristof Way.

The Medfield Lions Club will offer local children the opportunity to say Happy Mothers Day in a special way on Sunday, May 8th at the American Legion Hall with a Pancake Breakfast. The breakfast will start at 8 a.m. and  end at noon.   The Medfield Lions is sponsoring the breakfast with all the trimmings and Basil’s Restaurant will cater a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausages, bacon, home fries, and coffee, tea, and juice. The Lions will provide carnations to each mother. Tickets for the breakfast are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and may be purchased at the door. The breakfast promises to be a special event for the Medfield community and as with every Lions’ fundraiser, the proceeds from the pancake breakfast goes to local …

Residents Give Back By Donating Blood At Medfield Lions Club

59 donors show up at Medfield Lions Club Tuesday to give blood.

The Medfield Lions Club and the Red Cross hosted a blood drive at American Legion Beckwith Post 110 on Tuesday. While the nurses from the Red Cross said they expected a turnout of about 45 donors, 59 people showed up to give blood. “I think we had a fantastic turnout,” Lions Club chairman Tom Sweeney said. “The Red Cross could have used one more nurse, but everybody did a great job.” Of the 59 people that showed up, 34 scheduled an appointment ahead of time, while 25 were walk-ins. Medfield resident Helen Williams used to work at Mass. General Hospital, and said she used to give blood a lot while she worked there, but she had not donated in awhile.  “Then I retired," said Williams. "The last time I gave blood was two years ago.”  Williams …
