Fourth District Congressman Joe Kennedy III (D-Brookline) will take reader questions in a LIVE text chat today, March 27, at 1:30 p.m. Kennedy was elected to the Fourth District seat in November 2012, beating Republican challenger Sean Bielat. Medfield went against the state norm and voted Republican in the Commonwealth's two biggest races.
This story was updated on Nov. 7 to reflect the final official election results as tabulated by the Medfield Town Clerk's office. While Barack Obama overwhelmingly won the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' 11 electoral votes, he did not win the majority of Medfield's votes. In Medfield, Mitt Romney took 3,864 votes over Obama's 3,448. In addition, Elizabeth Warren won the U.S. Senate seat statewide, incumbent Scott Brown won Medfield's vote with 4,569 for Brown and 2,832 for Warren. The closest race in Medfield was that of Representative for the Fourth Congressional District. By a narrow margin of just 38 votes, Medfield helped put Joseph P. Kennedy III into the seat with 3,579 votes over Sean Bielat's 3,541 votes. Other Medfield results …
