Medfield Sports Report: Warriors Finding Early Success this Winter

Many of the Medfield High School winter athletic programs are off to strong starts this season. Here’s how each team looks coming out of winter break.

The Medfield High School winter sports teams are showing early signs of strength that could lead to long-term success for many of Big Blue’s programs. Three weeks into the 2011-2012 winter seasons at Medfield High School, two programs are unbeaten (boys’ hockey and girls’ basketball), while two others boast winning records (girls’ hockey and boys’ and girls’ track). Here’s a team-by-team look at how the Warriors have fared in the early going this season. Boys’ Basketball (3-3, 2-2) The early season highlights include beating defending Tri-Valley League champion Hopkinton, 72-58 on Dec. 16 and rival Dover-Sherborn, 47-46 on Dec. 20. Medfield High School Swim Results from Division 2 State Meet

Last weekend, several Medfield High School swimmers competed in the Division 2 State Swimming and Diving championship meet held at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool led by Coach Emily Alland. Competing in the meet requires swimmers to reach specified qualifying time standards over the course of the season. Each swimmer is limited to competing in two individual events plus relays. Boys – Saturday, Feb. 19: Four boys competed in individual events. Scoring points – requires a top 12 finish – were: Also competing in individual events were Jimmy Butler (senior) in the 100 free and 100 back and Alec Haley (freshman) in the 500 free. Warriors' Week Ahead In Sports

Warriors Look to Build On Impressive Week

Medfield High School's winter sports teams racked up the wins last week, look to build on that success.

The Medfield High School winter sports teams have yet to lose a game in 2011.  Since the calendar turned to January each winter sport racked up wins in the first week of the New Year. Every Warrior team is playing well and gaining momentum in their respective season. Here's a look at what each team faces this week: Boys' Basketball:  The Warriors are building confidence with each game of the season and as a result have rattled off three straight wins to even their record at 3-3. Medfield hits the road for two games this week. The team will be in Ashland on Tuesday and Millis on Friday. Both games tip-off at 6:30 p.m.  Girls' Basketball: Medfield continues to hold a tight grip on first place in the Tri-Valley League after two more TVL …

Hockey, Swimming and Track All in Action Today

Preview of today's Warriors' games with predictions.

It is a busy day in Medfield High athletics as three sports and six teams are on the schedule Wednesday.  Boys' Hockey:  Medway at Medfield Veteran's Rink in Franklin, 4 p.m.  The Medfield High boys' hockey team is coming of a Big Ham Cup tournament split over winter break, beating Scituate, 2-1 before falling to host Bourne in the championship game.  The Warriors resume Tri-Valley League play today at 4 p.m. when they host Medway at Veteran's Rink in Franklin, the team's first "home game" of the season. Prediction: Look for Medfield's Jim MaGrath to have a big game and Connor Roddy to make the necessary saves in net to secure a Warriors' victory.  Girls' Hockey:  Medfield at Barnstable Hyannis, 4 p.m.  The Warriors are off to a …

Warriors Return to Action This Week

Medfield High begins post winter break schedule this week.

Good news sports fans, the break is over and it is time for the Medfield High School winter sports teams to return to game action. Here's a look at what each team has slated for this week:  Girls' Basketball: The 5-0 Warriors host Westwood at 5 p.m. Tuesday and travel to Bellingham for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off Friday.  Boys' Basketball:  The 1-3 Warriors host Westwood at 6:30 p.m. – following the girls' varsity game – on Tuesday and host Bellingham Friday at 6:30 p.m.  Girls' Hockey: The 4-0 Warriors travel to Hyannis for a 4 p.m. game against Barnstable High on Wednesday before returning home for a Saturday night game (8 p.m.) against North Quincy.  Boys' Hockey: The 2-1-1 Warriors are coming off a split in the Big Ham Cup tournament in Bourne…
