Medfield Girls' Lacrosse Wins on Senior Night to Finish Regular Season 16-2

Warriors defeat TVL rival Dover-Sherborn, 15-12 Tuesday to close out regular season.

Tuesday was Senior Night for the Medfield High School girls’ lacrosse team – so it was fitting that a pair of seniors led the Warriors to a 15-12 victory over rival Dover-Sherborn. MHS seniors Kate Wasley (five goals) and Katie Ott (four goals) led the team in scoring as the Warriors held off a pesky D-S squad to close out their regular season with 16 wins (10 in the Tri-Valley League). “We’ve had a great season,” said Medfield head coach Jason Heim. “We’re 16-2 and our two losses are to Westwood and they’re ranked No. 1 in the state.” Heim credited his players for grinding through a difficult schedule, especially down the stretch to finish the season on an eight game winning streak. “These girls are worn out,” Heim said. “We’ve played …

Medfield's Potent Offense Leads to 14-4 Victory over Holliston in Girls' Lax

Warriors overwhelm Holliston Sunday to pick up their 14th win of the season.

HOLLISTON – The Medfield High School girls' lacrosse team continued its strong 2011 season Sunday, notching a 14-4 victory over Tri-Valley League rival Holliston, improving to 9-2 in the TVL and 14-2 overall. The Warriors jumped ahead early, netting two quick goals in the first half. Holliston got one back off the stick of Ali Slyne (team-high three goals) but after that, it was all Medfield.  “It’s pretty much what I expected,” said Holliston head coach Chris Keiley. “My leading scorer (Vicky Sostilio) was out, I have an attack playing goalie, and I had two defenders out. But no excuses, they’re a better team than we are.” Medfield answered with four unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead. Slyne netted her second tally of the game to bring …

Medfield Boys' Lacrosse Continues Dominance Over TVL

Medfield's 18-4 win over Westwood Tuesday keeps Warriors unbeaten in Tri-Valley League play.

The Medfield High School boys' lacrosse team (11-3) had no trouble with Tri-Valley League rival Westwood (9-5) Tuesday evening, as the league leading Warriors remained a perfect 9-0 in the TVL, winning 18-4.  Cal Given and Davis Parsons led the Medfield attack with four goals apiece and Derek Etzkorn added a hat trick. The highly efficient Warrior offense put in 18 of 27 shots on goal – moving the ball quickly and seamlessly around the Westwood defense.  “We do a lot of work on that,” said Medfield head coach Bob Aronson. “We had been a little sloppy at the beginning of the year, whether it was younger or inexperienced players, but they are coming into their own now and we spend a lot of time on it in practice so they are starting to click…

Medfield Girls' Lacrosse Rolls by D-S, 16-7 Friday

Warriors improve to 7-1 overall, 5-1 in the TVL this season.

The Medfield High School girls' lacrosse team continued its quick start to the season, knocking off rival Dover-Sherborn, 16-7 Friday night at D-S.  The Warriors (7-1, 5-1) jumped out to a 7-3 halftime lead but turned it up a notch coming out of the intermission, rattling off four straight goals in a less than three minute span - keeping possession away from the Raiders.  “[Medfield] had a lot of quick ball movement and it was taking us longer to recover from that than we were in the first half,” said D-S head coach Erin Newton. “In those four goals, our communication was down, our slides were down, but, in their defense, we were trying a lot of different things on defense to see which combination would work the best and be the most …

Veterans Lead Medfield Girls' Lacrosse Past Nashoba, 18-5

With expectations high this season, Warriors race out to 6-0 lead in opening minutes of Thursday's 18-5 victory over Nashoba Valley.

The Medfield High School girls’ lacrosse team continued its fast start to the 2011 season Thursday, posting an 18-5 victory over Nashoba Valley at Calvin George Fisher Memorial Field. The victory is Medfield’s fifth in six games to start the year and is the type of success the Warriors have come to expect on the lacrosse field. “We have a really good team this year and we are pretty well-rounded,” said MHS senior captain Kate Wasley. “We have pretty high expectations for the season and we’re off to a good start.” With the majority of last year’s team intact this season, MHS senior captain Isabelle Hackett said that familiarity and experience on the field has resulted in early success. “We have a really good mix of players and there’s a lot…
