Members include Cami McCurdy, Kristina Gustafson, Kelsey McKenzie, Julia Pagliarulo, Molly Crabtree, Abby Viles, Delaney Lawson, and Caroline Tschirch. "We started this group, 16 Hands, in eighth grade to give back to the community," said member McCurdy. She said the group has seen, first-hand, how one (or eight) people can make a difference in the world. In 2011, the girls ran a fundraising campaign to fill 100 backpacks with school supplies and donated them to the Marie Louise School. The group then traveled to Haiti to …

Dear Editor, I am writing to inform readers of a matching grant that is about to expire for the Lowell Mason Foundation. An anonymous donor has offered to match up to $5,000 in donations with an end date for the matching grant of June 30th. To date as part of this matching grant proposal, we have raised $2,735. We have been working hard to raise the money to renovate the Lowell Mason House. Currently, we are reviewing proposals for the initial work, which must be completed before the end of the summer. While we have some funds to start this work, the more funds available now will expedite the process of renovating the house and preparing it for its next life as a museum, rehearsal space, and offices. Proceeds from the annual event go to the Firefighters Relief Association, a local fund whose mission is to aid firefighters injured while in the performance of their duties
Once annually, for over 20 years, there’s smoke bellowing from the grounds of the Medfield Fire Department and that's a good thing. As a group of firefighters kept a keen eye on a smoking barbecue pit, customers began to trickle in, ready for a tasty treat. And they weren’t disappointed, as the Medfield Fire Fighter’s once-a-year barbecue served up a summertime treat of barbecued-chicken, complete with all the “fixing’s.” “We’ll serve about 500 meals today,” said MFD spokesperson Dave O’Toole, “between eating here and take-out.” The barbecue, held on June 18, featured chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls and cranberry sauce at budget-friendly prices. Proceeds from the annual event go to the Firefighters Relief Association, a local fund …
