The Friends of the Dwight-Derby House celebrated their 15th anniversary of saving the historic landmark with a Black and White Gala.
The Friends of the Dwight-Derby House celebrated their 15th anniversary of the town’s purchase of the historic landmark on Frairy Street – effectively saving the home from demolition – with a Black and White Gala this past Saturday night. Close to 100 guests visited the 17th-century home and were encouraged to take a tour of the house and see the restoration progress that has been done over the past 15 years. Everyone gathered under a large white tent in the back yard of the house for an evening of dinner and dancing and even the house got dressed up. From 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, the Friends of the Dwight-Derby House will be selling tickets to its May 19th Gala outside the house at 7 Frairy St. Tickets, which are limited to 200 in number, cost $75 per person and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. They are also available for purchase at Lord’s Department Store. Groups of 10 people may reserve a table by emailing email@example.com. The Friends of the Dwight-Derby House will hold a Black and White Gala on May 19 to celebrate 15 years of saving and preserving the historic landmark. Tickets for the event go on sale on Thursday, March 15 at 9 a.m.
Fifteen years ago, a local group saved the Dwight-Derby House from demolition and those efforts will be celebrated this May with a gala at the 17th Century house. On May 19, the Friends of the Dwight Derby House will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the purchase of this historic landmark with a Black and White gala on the premises of the house. Residents are invited to purchase tickets to attend the event and help fund further restoration of the house, which includes a new kitchen and other "wish list" improvements.
