Stay Safe This Fourth of July

Check out professional firework displays and stay safe.

With the Fourth of July holiday weekend finally here, Fire officials remind Medfield residents to celebrate safely. Although all fireworks are illegal to possess, ignite and be transported by private citizens in Massachusetts, numerous professional displays will be hosted this weekend. Click here for a complete listing of firework displays in the area.  There were 774 major fire and explosion incidents last year involving illegal fireworks reported to the Massachusetts Fire Incident Reporting System, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. So as we all ready ourselves for a weekend full of family, beach trips, cookouts, fireworks and everything American, here's a guide to some places you can go to celebrate. The fourth of July isn’t cause for just one day of celebration. There’s plenty to do all weekend.

Get your hands dirty in the Powisset Farm fields (39 Powisset Street, Dover), helping them to plant, weed, and harvest, or with a variety of other farm projects on Saturday, July 2 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. For all ages and skills, plus its free! Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. It's all about kids in Needham (Needham High School, 609 Webster Street, Needham Heights) on July 3 from 1 to 4 p.m.  Check this out – there will be nearly 50 games and activities provided by Knuckle Bones, including bouncy rides and field games, will keep the kids entertained for hours at Memorial Park. Several communities are having fireworks this weekend near Medfield.
