Medfield Field Hockey Makes MIAA Tournament

After a 1-0 win over East Bridgewater on Thursday, Medfield enters the first round of the MIAA Tournament. On Saturday, Nov. 4, they will face undefeated 3rd seed Dover Sherborn.

Click here to find out how.  The Medfield Warrior Field Hockey team won a close game on Thursday over East Bridgewater 1-0. After 23 shots and 20 penalty corners, Sophomore Collen Gair found the back of the net with four minutes remaining in the game to propel Medfield into the first round of the MIAA Tournament. They will face undefeated 3rd seed Dover Sherborn on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. at Dover Sherborn High School.   Medfield dominated the game but the East Bridgwater goalie, Lindsey Wolfe, made save after save stopping 22 of 23 shots.  Carrie Cook, Medfield's goalie, made the save of the game …

MHS Field Hockey Team Plays Thursday Night at Home

The Medfield Field Hockey Team will host East Bridgewater Thursday at 6:30pm.

Click here to find out how.  The Medfield High School Varsity Field Hockey Team will host East Bridgewater on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. The game will be played under the lights at the turf field behind Medfield High School. Medfield is the 14th Seed and East Bridgewater is the 19th Seed in the MIAA Tournament. This is a preliminary round and the winner will face Dover Sherborn on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. at Dover Sherborn. For more information about the seedings and playoff brackets, click here.

Medfield Field Hockey Wins Over Needham

The Lady Warriors are now 7-4-3 and will play at Medway this afternoon.

The following was submitted by Medfield High School Varsity Field Hockey Coach Mike Mason. Want to see more sports on Medfield Patch? Click here to find out how.  The Medfield Warrior Field Hockey team won a close one on Tuesday over Needham 1-0. In a non-league matchup, the teams battled to a 0-0 halftime score. Then, about halfway through the second half, Senior Captain Lily Beardsley found the back of the goal after a mad scramble arouind the front of the net. She was assisted by Sophomore Colleen Gair. Getting the shutout in net for the Warriors was Senior Captain Carrie Cook -- this was her 9th shutout of the season. The Lady Warriors are now 7-4-3 and play at Medway today and then host Hopkinton Friday afternoon.

Field Hockey Team Visits Former Medfield MVP at Bentley

Members of the Medfield Field Hockey team, along with their coaches, visited former MHS field hockey MVP, Beth Maguire at Bentley University where she is currently a senior.

On Saturday, members of the current MHS field hockey team, together with their coaches Mike Mason and Sue Pratt, visited the college to watch Maguire play in the Bentley/Assumption game as part of the school's Senior Day celebration.  Maguire is a senior and also the Bentley Falcons' leading scorer.  She currently has 8 goals and 4 assists for the season. Medfield Varsity Field Hockey wins at Bellingham 2-0

The Lady Warriors are now 6-4-3 and will host Needham on Tuesday afternoon.

Click here to find out how.  Medfield High School Varsity Field Hockey team versus Bellingham High School.                         Junior Allie Gianci's quick goal assisted by Meredith Sloan started the warrior momentum. Within a minute, junior Meredith Sloan received a pass from fellow junior Marinda Horan and scored to rack up another point. Juniors Ellen Tucker and Kelsey Chatterton had an outstanding preformance. The teams overall record is 6-4-3 and 4-4-3 in the league. The Lady Warriors will host Needham after school on Tuesday.

Field Hockey Wins at Holliston 1-0

The Lady Warriors are now 5-4-3 and will play at Bellingham Friday afternoon.

The fog lifted just in time for the game to begin Wednesday night at Holliston.   In a very exciting seesaw battle, Medfield came out on top winning 1-0. Junior Allie Gianci tipped in a shot by Sophomore Colleen Gair close to to the end of the first half for the winning goal.   The weather sure wasn't cooperating during the day as the rain was coming down hard on the bus ride over but the skies cleared just in time for game time.   Also playing well for Medfield was Abby Johnson at center defense. Medfield Field Hockey Season Ends in First Round Loss to Harwich

Medfield knocked out by Harwich, 3-2 in overtime Thursday.

The Medfield High School field hockey team had Harwich on the ropes in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament Thursday, before a late surge by the Rough Riders ended the Warriors season. Medfield, the 10th seed in the tournament, fell to seventh seed Harwich, 3-2 in overtime, despite the Warriors leading 2-0 at halftime. “[We] came out blazing hot in the first half,” said Medfield head coach Mike Mason. Emily Zlevor scored off a Julia Redden pass to give Medfield an early 1-0 lead and five minutes later, it was Redden converting on a Tori Brown pass to put the Warriors up 2-0. That lead would hold heading into halftime but Harwich “put the pressure on” in the second half to tie the game and force overtime. …

PHOTOS: Medfield Field Hockey Swept by Dover-Sherborn in Season Series

For the second time this season, Medfield was shut out by Dover-Sherborn; losing 2-0 Friday.

Entering Friday's game, the Medfield field hockey team had just one loss in 10 Tri-Valley League games this season – a 1-0 loss to Dover-Sherborn on Sept. 27. On Friday, Medfield suffered its second TVL loss of the year, a 2-0 defeat to D-S at the MHS Turf. "That first goal ... it was 0-0 at half ... whoever got that first goal, the other team was going to get down," said Medfield head coach Mike Mason. After a scoreless first half, Dover-Sherborn got that crucial first goal off the stick of Andrea Marx with 23:03 remaining in the second half. Less than four minutes later, Meg Nolan scored on a ball misplayed by the Medfield defense, sneaking past Warriors' goalkeeper Carrie Cook with 19:37 to play. Medfield Field Hockey Stays Unbeaten with 2-0 Victory over Medway

Medfield field hockey improved to 4-0 in the Tri-Valley League with a 2-0 victory over Medway Wednesday.

MEDWAY – The Medfield High School field hockey team extended two streaks Wednesday in a 2-0 victory over Medway. The Warriors extended their winning streak to five games, including four straight in the Tri-Valley League and goalkeeper Carrie Cook extended her shutout streak to four straight games, stopping five Medway shots. The game was scoreless with seven minutes to play when senior forward Julia Redden scored off an Emily Zlevor assist to give Medfield a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Sammy Sturchio put the game away with a goal of her own to extend the lead to 2-0. Zlevor recorded her second assist and now has seven in five games.  "Julia Redden had a great game," Medfield head coach Mike Mason said. "Constantly applying pressure." …
