Students from Bengbu Excited about Exchange Program

Students tell Medfield Patch they are excited to be in Medfield.

  Last week, Medfield middle and high school students welcomed five students and three teachers from China as part of its cultural exchange program with its sister school in Bengbu, China.  After a welcoming ceremony on Friday, the students told Medfield Patch they were excited to be in Medfield. "I'm excited because the people are warm and they're glad to see us," Windy Ye said. "I'm very excited to be here because of the great culture and this great country and the great people and they're very good to me," Angl Lee said.  Rose Wang was also excited. "The people here are very warm-hearted and they're very kind to us," Wang said. "I think it's just like home. I think Medfield is very beautiful."  The students are part of a cultural …

Medfield High School Freshman Meets First Lady

MHS freshman Katrina Simon accepted a "Hi" and a handshake from First Lady Michelle Obama during a trip to Washington D.C. for a "100,000 Strong Initiative" rally.

For one Medfield High School student, a recent trip to Washington, D.C. included a visit to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, an elevator ride to the top of the Washington Monument, a visit to Howard University and oh, yes … a handshake and a "hi" from First Lady, Michelle Obama. Medfield High freshman student, Katrina Simon was one of a select few who were invited to share the stage with Mrs. Obama during the First Lady’s Jan. 19 appearance at a “100,000 Strong Initiative” rally. Simon is a member of Medfield High School’s Asia Society and was one of 10 students whose families played host to Chinese exchange students last fall.
