This marked the last year for the Gloria Gillis Lynn Memorial Scholarship which was started in 1987 and has awarded $28,000 to 29 library pages over the years.
The Gloria Gillis Lynn Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1987 by her husband, James F. Lynn, and her son, J. Gillis Lynn, in memory of the long-time Medfield resident, former teacher, and great admirer of the Medfield Library. This year marks the conclusion of the award that is given to library pages upon graduation from high school in order to lessen the financial burden of furthering their education. Jane Archer was director of the Medfield Public Library when the fund was established. “I knew Gloria well, as she used the library often. Evan Berry, the MHS school committee representative and a member of the Class of 2012, thanked the School Committee for his time on the committee.
At his final school committee meeting last month, Student Council Representative (and Class of 2012 graduate) Evan Berry thanked the Medfield School Committee for the opportunity to serve on the board. “Being on the school committee has been awesome,” he told the committee at its June meeting. “When you’re in Kindergarten, you don’t understand how much goes into your education, you just see what goes on in the classroom and, even now in high school, it’s such an interesting perspective to see really how special a place Medfield is,” he said. Support the Medfield High School Student Council by having your car washed behind Town Hall on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Been planning to wash your car but haven’t had time? Don’t worry; the Medfield High School Student Council can help. Drive behind Town Hall on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to have your car washed by the Medfield High School Student Council as they raise funds for various student events for the upcoming academic year. Donations for the car wash are accepted and all proceeds will go to the student council to add to its treasury to help with student events such as dances, fundraisers, Spirit Week activities and scholarships for graduating seniors.
