Medfield Resident Marries at Dwight-Derby House

Medfield's Christopher Ingram was married to Amy Rae Cathey in the parlor of the Dwight-Derby House on Dec. 27.

  History was made on Dec. 27 when a Medfield's Christopher Ingram married his sweetheart, Amy Rae Cathey, in the parlor of the Dwight-Derby House. Ingram is a 2004 graduate of Medfield High School and is a United States Air Force Senior Airman. The bride is from Seminole, Oklahoma, and is a Senior Airman and linguist in the United States Air Force.  Chris and Amy both joined the Air Force on the same day in 2010.  Click here for the full story.

Medfield Cultural District Launches New Season of “First Thursdays”

"First Thursdays" is a free monthly event that helps promote Medfield's Cultural District and cultural offerings.

Medfield’s cultural organizations will be on hand to launch a new season of “First Thursdays” on Sept. 6 outside the library at the gazebo (or inside the library in bad weather). "First Thursdays" is a free monthly event that helps promote Medfield's Cultural District and cultural offerings. For this month's event, Zullo Gallery will remain open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. where patrons can also enjoy the last week of its exhibition “Four Artists” as well as its popular grilling on the deck. At 6:15 p.m., Town Historian Richard DeSorgher and Public Art Consultant Jean Mineo will lead a 45-minute walking tour along Main Street to discuss the poetry installation “Thoughts Are Free” and several historic properties in the District. Free Art Exhibit at Dwight Derby House Saturday

The artwork of John Jesse Francis, one of Medfield's more celebrated artists, will be on display at the Dwight Derby House on Saturday, June 11.

There will be an exhibition of watercolor paintings by John Jesse Francis, one of Medfield's more celebrated artists on Saturday, June 11th.   This free exhibition of over 20 of his paintings will occur at the Dwight Derby House on 7 Frairy St., Medfield, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. An informal reception will happen at 2 p.m. to honor his attending family, his grandson, David Dalton Francis, and two of his great-grandchildren, Julie Francis and Daniel Francis. J.J. Francis was a world-renown watercolor artist, who painted local landscapes in his 2nd-floor studio at Medfield's Peak House on Main Street.  At least by 1886 when he was 24 years old, he came to Medfield as one of a growing artist colony that discovered this town's landscapes and …

Hello Dwight Derby House! I am writing from Rochester NY which is the region where J J Francis was born (Irondequoit). I bought a watercolor painting at a used furniture store in the 70s which was signed by him. It has taken a long time to find out much but I would love to know more about the value of this painting.
