Question of the Day

POLL: What’s Missing in Downtown Medfield?

With the potential arrival of two chain coffee shops in Medfield, we want to know what you think is missing in the downtown.

Seemingly anyone you talk to in Medfield these days has something to say about the potential arrival of two chain coffee shops in the downtown. At one end of town, you have developers proposing Dunkin’ Donuts to move into the former Friendly’s building on the corner of Routes 109 and 27. And in the heart of the downtown – at the site of the current Mobil station – developers have shown interest in purchasing the Main Street property and converting it into a Starbucks. Some residents have said they will welcome both businesses with open arms because it will provide much needed tax revenue for the town and supply jobs to Medfield’s youth. Others have expressed concerns about the traffic impact these coffee shops will bring, worsening an …

Developers Show Interest in Bringing Starbucks to Medfield

Developers representing Starbucks met with Medfield's Downtown Study Committee to discuss the possibility of bringing the famous coffee shop chain to Medfield at the site currently occupied by Mobil on North Street.

Another chain coffee shop may be moving into a prominent section of Medfield. Greg Salvatore of Salvatore Capital Partners, LLC, based in Dedham, recently met with Medfield’s Downtown Study Committee to present preliminary drawings of a proposal to develop a Starbucks at the current Mobil gas station site at the corner of North Street and Route 109 Main Street. The drawing can be viewed in the photo gallery above. Salvatore Capital Partners LLC, which represents the Seattle-based coffee shop chain, is currently in negotiations with the property owner – Alliance Energy LLC of Branford, Conn. – of the Mobil site but nothing is imminent at this time, according to Brandie Erb, chairman of the Downtown Study Committee. “[Salvatore Capital …

Why does Dunkin Donuts want to open another location in the same town when the vast majority of residents are against it (based on various media polls)? What a bad PR move for Dunkin', unless of course, it only cares about greed from non-Medfield commuters, which is exactly who it will attract. Fellow residents...if you care about Dunkin' coming in, then do something about it! No franchise wants …   more ›

Poll: Dunkin' Donuts Emerges as Potential Tenant for Site of Medfield's Old Friendly's

A representative from Dunkin' Donuts met with the Historic District Commission Tuesday regarding the old Friendly's site, however no plans have been submitted to the town as of Wednesday morning.

Something's brewing at the former Friendly's site in Medfield. Though no formal plans have been filed, local Dunkin' Donuts owner Michael Cavallo met with town officials Tuesday night to talk about the fate of the former Friendly's building at the corner of Routes 109 and 27.  "A representative of Dunkin' Donuts appeared before the Historic [District] Commission [Tuesday] night regarding the old Friendly’s site. That’s the only information I can provide at this time," said Cavallo's attorney Edward V. Cannon Jr. of Doherty, Ciechanowski, Dugan & Cannon PC, in an e-mail to Patch this morning. Norma Cronin, administrative assistant to the Medfield Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals confirmed with Medfield Patch Wednesday morning that…

It's a business district in spite of the historical district designation. There is no reason that makes sense for the property to just sit there. Will they close the other location?   more ›
