ESPNBoston Ranks Medfield #2 on List of Top Girls Basketball Teams

The Lady Warriors are near the top of ESPNBoston's list of MIAA girls basketball teams in the state.

  Medfield Girls Basketball (26-2) is ranked #2 on ESPNBoston.com's Top 25 MIAA girls basketball teams, according to the chart released on Wednesday. The list is voted by ESPNBoston.com's staff writers and correspondents. The Lady Warriors clinched the Division 2 Girls Basketball State Championship on Saturday in Worcester.  Click HERE to see what other teams made the Top 25.

MHS Girls Basketball State Champions Receive Police/Fire Escort Upon Return Home

The Medfield police and fire departments escorted the state champs through town after their win on Saturday.

  What were all those sirens coming through town around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday? That was the arrival home of the Medfield Lady Warriors Basketball team who, just a few hours earlier, won the Division 2 Girls Basketball State Championship. In an exciting game at the DCU Center in Worcester, Medfield topped Nashoba Regional High School 54-36. Nashoba made the first point but Medfield soon took the lead and kept it throughout the game. Both teams played hard. MHS Girls Basketball in State Finals on Saturday

Tune into Medfield Patch on Saturday during game time when we will bring the game to you on CoverItLive.

  After an impressive win in the Division 2 State Semifinals, Medfield Girls Basketball is off to the finals tomorrow (Saturday, March 16) at the DCU Center in Worcester. On Monday, the Warriors ended the Reading Memorial Rockets with a score of 59-51 in overtime.  HERE are photos from the semi-finals.  The game is scheduled to start at 2:15 p.m. against the Nashoba Chieftains. Medfield Girls' Hoops Cruise Past Hingham; Advance to Saturday's Quarterfinals

Medfield dispatches Hingham from state tournament with 77-25 victory Thursday and advance to Saturday's quarterfinals, where the Warriors will take on TVL foe Hopkinton.

The Medfield High girls' basketball team made quick work of Hingham in Thursday's first round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament with a 77-25 victory over the Harbormen. The number two seeded Warriors outscored Hingham 20-6 in the first quarter, including a 15-0 run, to take control of the game right out of the blocks and did not allow the underdogs to build confidence. Medfield's press forced 20 turnovers by halftime and kept Hingham from getting into an offensive flow. Medfield head coach Mark Nickerson was impressed by the way his team jumped opened the tournament. "We got off to a nice start," Nickerson said. "We shot the ball well in the beginning, which was good. We threw pretty much everything at them and got a …

Champs Again: Medfield Boys' Lacrosse Wins 2nd Straight State Title

The 2011 Medfield High School boys' lacrosse team are MIAA Division 2 State Champions for the second straight season after knocking off Algonquin, 13-9 in Friday's title game.

WORCESTER - Let the celebration begin. The Medfield High School boys’ lacrosse team defeated Algonquin, 13-9 Friday at Foley Stadium in Worcester to capture its second straight MIAA Division 2 State Championship and fifth in program history. Leading 9-8 heading into the fourth quarter, Medfield showed the heart and experience of a champion, delivering the finishing blow to Algonquin’s title hopes with a 4-1 run in the quarter to close out the game and secure its second straight state title. Medfield’s determination and resiliency was needed for the entire 48 minutes, but more importantly, in the first half.
