Seven Medfield Students Chosen for District Concert

Seven Medfield students will join others in the Junior District Concert Festival on March 8 at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

  Thanks to successful auditions, seven Medfield music students were chosen to perform with their district peers at the Junior District Concert Festival kicking off on March 8 at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Medfield performers Blake Middle School students: Medfield High School student Joe Aversa (Orchestra tuba) was also chosen to participate. The festival is organized by the Eastern District of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association which is affiliated with the National Association for Music Education.

Jazz Band to Perform at Lord's on Saturday

The MHS Jazz Band will perform at Lord's on Jan. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in recognition for all the support the store, and the Kelly family, has shown community groups over its 73 year history. The public is encouraged to attend.

On Saturday, Jan. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. the Medfield High School Jazz Band will be performing at Lord's Department Store as a way to thank the Kelly family for many years of selling tickets to high school music performances, plays, Trolley Tours and other community events. Organizers call this "musical therapy" to help the community deal with last week's news that the iconic store will be closing next month after 73 years in business.  The public is encouraged to stop into Lord’s during the event to express their own appreciation for the support the Kelly family and Lord's staff have provided to Medfield community groups over the years. Alumni Association Donates $1,000 Toward Jazz Band China Tour

The Medfield High School Alumni Association has made a donation to help support members of the MHS Jazz Band who are heading to China in April.

  The Medfield High School Alumni Association has donated $1,000 to help with the Medfield High School Jazz Band music tour and cultural exchange trip in April. The jazz band will hold a fundraising event on Saturday, Feb. 2 at The Center at Medfield to support the band's trip.  Tickets are available at Lord's and can also be purchased through Network for Good. Cost is $50 per person, or a discounted $45 per person if a table for eight is purchased (limited availability). Online convenience charges will apply. The jazz band China trip features several days in Bengbu, which has hosted a student and staff exchange with Medfield Public Schools for the past four years. Ted Larkin Playing at Zullo Gallery Thursday [Video]

Medfield native Ted Larkin returns to town for a concert at the Zullo Gallery Thursday at 8 p.m. Cover charge is $8.

Teddy Larkin, singer-songwriter and Medfield native, will perform live tonight at Zullo Gallery. Larkin will be joined by his Berklee friend Rick Dillon on mandolin and guitar. Doors open at 7 p.m. Beer and wine bar will be available and there is a cover charge of $8. Larkin played in front of a crowd of 70 at the Zullo Gallery in March, a reunion of sorts for the Medfield High School Class of 1982 alum. Lowell Mason Foundation to Celebrate Successful Move of Lowell Mason House with Concert

A Celebration Concert will be held on Sunday, May 22 at St. Edward the Confessor Church at 2 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Lowell Mason Foundation in their efforts to restore the house.

The Lowell Mason Foundation has announced a "Celebration Concert" for the saving of the Lowell Mason House to take place on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring St. The concert will feature the Handel and Haydn Society’s Young Men’s Chorus as well as the Medfield High School Concert Choir.  In addition Boston-based composer and guitarist Mark Small, pianist/singer-songwriter Anne Marie David, Music Director of St. Edward Church, and Medfield High School violinist Stephen Krawec will perform. “We are extremely excited about the participation of Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society through their Young Men’s Chorus,” said Karen Scotti, CEO of the Lowell Mason Foundation.  “Lowell Mason compiled the Handel and …
