Medfield Legion Baseball Outlasts Braintree in Playoffs
Medfield Legion baseball advanced to the next round of the playoffs after beating Braintree in three games.
District 6 playoff review Medfield Post 110 Legion Baseball team, seeded fourth in the West, squared off against the East's second-seed Braintree in a best-of-three first round play July 25-26. Latosek's 2-hitter stellar but still not enough: Game one of the doubleheader scheduled due to rain last week was an old fashioned pitching duel between Post 110's Derek Latosek and 6'7" Vanderbilt bound and Red Sox draftee Pat Delano with Braintree grabbing a 2-1 win. For the most part Latosek, who gave up at least nine-inches in height and over 100-pounds in weight to his counterpart, bested the big league prospect by hurling a two hitter with five strikeouts and one walk.
