Are House-Breaks Related?

In this column, you ask a question and Patch tries to find the answer.

Yesterday we reported that, on Thanksgiving Day, at 4:34 a.m., there was an attempted break-in on Hearthstone Drive. You asked: Is this related to last month's break-ins?  Medfield Patch spoke with Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr. who said the incidents do not appear to be connected to the October break-ins.   "The homeowner’s were away at the time of the break," Meaney said. "The police were alerted to the incident when the alarm company called to let us know an alarm was coming from the residence." He said, "Responding officers found a pane of glass on the front door broken. It does not appear that anything was taken from the house. We do not believe that this break is related to two others that occurred earlier this fall." …

No Bomb Found in North Street Office Building

A medical office at 50 North Street received two bomb threats this morning from one man around 10:44 a.m. An explosive-sniffing dog did not find a bomb in the building.

At 10:44 a.m. this morning, a man called into the Beth Israel Deaconess Family Medicine and told the receptionist there was a bomb in the building. He called two times, and said the same thing both times. While one receptionist kept the man on the phone, the other receptionist in the office called 911. Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr. said the threatening caller was described as a middle-aged man with no particular accent. “Basically, ‘There’s a bomb in the building’ was the extent of it; it was very brief,” Meaney said of the threatening phone calls. The police chief said it may be difficult to isolate the phone calls because they came into a roving phone bank and not on one particular line. “It is a classic telephone system that …
