This is the second of a two-part series as Town Historian Richard DeSorgher shares the history of the Medfield Police Log.
Over the years, the Medfield Police Log has recorded illegal activity from murders, theft, car accidents, rapes, breaking and entering, patient escapes from the state hospital to a hysterical mother calling 911 to report her house was being shot at, only to find out it was a woodpecker on her roof. The following is the second in the two-part series that looks at illegal activities recorded in the town of Medfield from the late 1800’s to the first half of the 20th century. This week’s article looks in-depth at the Medfield Police Log in the decade of the 1940’s. Patient transported to Norwood Hospital. 10:57 a.m. – Caller reported a dead animal in the road near his house on Pound Street. Monday, June 20: 6:06 a.m. – 911 caller reported she would like an ambulance for her mother who was 80-year-old and was on the floor and she was breathing.
