Blood Drive Today in Medfield

Give blood today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., sponsored by the Medfield Fire Department and the American Red Cross.

The Medfield Fire Department is holding its 8th annual blood drive today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion, 50 Peter Kristof Way (at the intersection of Route 27 and West Street). Bill DeKing of the MFD started the MFD's annual blood drive "because 7 years ago when my daughter was born my wife had a life threatening infection that caused her to bleed uncontrollably and she needed more blood than the hospital had on hand, they contacted the Red Cross in the middle of the night and they were there with the blood she needed. Medfield Fire Department to Host Blood Drive on Sept. 7

The Medfield Fire Department will be hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Sept. 7 at the Medfield Senior Center on Ice House Road.

The Medfield Fire Department and the American Red Cross are teaming up to host a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Medfield Senior Center, One Ice House Rd. in Medfield.  All presenting donors will receive a coupon for half off a one-day pass to Six Flags New England and they will also receive a coupon for a $12.99 oil change and free tire rotation, redeemable at any Monro Muffler/Brake location, or a coupon for $30 off any set of four tires, redeemable at any Tire Warehouse location. Residents Give Back By Donating Blood At Medfield Lions Club

59 donors show up at Medfield Lions Club Tuesday to give blood.

The Medfield Lions Club and the Red Cross hosted a blood drive at American Legion Beckwith Post 110 on Tuesday. While the nurses from the Red Cross said they expected a turnout of about 45 donors, 59 people showed up to give blood. “I think we had a fantastic turnout,” Lions Club chairman Tom Sweeney said. “The Red Cross could have used one more nurse, but everybody did a great job.” Of the 59 people that showed up, 34 scheduled an appointment ahead of time, while 25 were walk-ins. Medfield resident Helen Williams used to work at Mass. General Hospital, and said she used to give blood a lot while she worked there, but she had not donated in awhile.  “Then I retired," said Williams.
