Over 13 Inches of Snow Closes Town Hall, Library

Snow accumulation continues to add up in Medfield during Blizzard 2010.

Nearly four more inches of snow has fallen in Medfield Monday after nearly 10 inches fell Sunday night, according to Medfield Weather.  As of 2 p.m. Monday, 13.5 inches of snow had accumulated in town, according to Medfield Weather and Massachusetts remains in a state of emergency until 6 p.m. Medfield Town Hall and the Public Library complied with Governor Deval Patrick's state of emergency warning issued Sunday by closing Monday. Both are expected to reopen Tuesday. Town Hall and the Public Library both announced its closings on its websites, siting hazardous weather and snow emergency.  Monday's Medfield High School boys' hockey game in Wellesley (3:40 p.m.) has been postponed with no make-up date announced. Blizzard Buries Medfield in Over 9 Inches of Snow

With snowfall to continue into Monday, closures and cancellations expected.

Medfield received 9.75 inches of snow Sunday with more expected to fall throughout the night and into Monday, according to Medfield Weather. As a result, town hall announced it would be closed Monday "due to a snow emergency." The Medfield Public Library also announced it will be closed, canceling the following events scheduled for Monday: Super Mario Brothers Wii Play Time, "Needs and Leads Networking" event. Medfield Patch is still awaiting word on Monday's Medfield High boys' hockey game in Wellesley against the Raiders at 3:40 p.m. and the girls' and boys' varsity swim meets against Holliston. Where will this one rank when it's all over?

It's coming. There's no question about it. National and local meteorologists predict a blizzard will hit a good chunk of Massachusetts, including Medfield, where anywhere from 10 to 16 inches of snow is expected, along with winds stronger than 44 mph, whiteout conditions and snow drifts. Blizzard Warning Issued in Medfield for Sunday and Monday

Report says 10 to 16 inches in Medfield possible.

Town residents are advised to avoid the roads and going outside Sunday as there will be no avoiding a winter storm this time around, according to the National Weather Service in  Taunton. Massachusetts was able to avoid a potential major storm last week but no such luck Sunday as the weather service is reporting accumulation of 10 to 16 inches is possible Sunday night with 100 percent chance of precipitation.  The National Weather Service in Taunton issued a blizzard warning from Sunday afternoon to Monday at 6 p.m. for all of Eastern Massachusetts.
