Bubble Gum Bob's Birthday Party: May 31

Mark your calendar: On May 31, there will be a birthday party for Bubble Gum Bob.

The community is pulling together a birthday party for Bubble Gum Bob on May 31 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Park Street Books and Toys.  The party has been several years in the making and was the idea of Francesca D'Angelo, 14.  "It's something we've always wanted to do," said her mother Carrie D'Angelo. Three years ago while in fifth grade, Francesca interviewed "Bubble Gum Bob" as part of a school project. During the interview, she learned his birthday was in June and thought it would be nice to have a birthday party for him. Bubble Gum Bob is a part of Medfield's character. He is at all community events and can often be seen walking around town, smiling and handing out gum (and other sweets) to everyone he meets. And it is not …

I'm in my 30's now and have moved on from Medfield. One of my childhood memories is of Bubblegum Bob. Every time I saw him I was so excited because I knew I would always be greeted with a smile and a special treat. Once he even gave me a book! He's part of my childhood memories and a truly special person. Happy Birthday!!!   more ›

Throwing a Birthday Party at Home

While it can seem daunting, hosting your child's birthday party can be a blast...with a little planning!

Well, it's that time of year again.  My baby inevitably gets another year older each January, and it's time to prepare!   Where shall we have it?  Who should be invited?  The whole class?  Girls only?  "BFFL"s only (Best Friends For Life)?   Will there be a theme?  Must there be cake? Must there be a piñata?  These questions occupy what little festive-free space is left in my brain after the Christmas marathon.  Luckily, I have developed some traditions over the past six years, and if traditions are useful for just one thing, it is that they preclude the necessity to think of new, original ideas.  And they usually work!  I'd like to share some of my thoughts on all things birthday parties, because all of us with children will throw parties…
