Betty Sanders Shares Her Gardening Tips Saturday at the Medfield Library

Stop by the Medfield Public Library Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to see a presentation by Lifetime Master Gardener Betty Sanders on her "Tips for the Best-Ever Vegetable Garden."

Lifetime Master Gardener Betty Sanders will present “Tips for a Best-Ever Vegetable Garden” at the Medfield Public Library on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.  There is no charge to attend the program, which is sponsored by the Medfield Conservation Commission. Whether you’re a novice gardener or an experienced one, you’ll come away from this presentation knowing more about designing a garden, choosing what to plant, and caring for your crops. If you’re interested in gardening but lack the space or sunlight, there are eight unclaimed plots at the Medfield Community Garden on Plain Street. Plots are available on a first-request basis through registration at Town Hall. Plots come in 15'x20' and 20'x30' sizes; sufficient to keep a family in vegetables …

Medfield Resident Honored at Washington Convention for Volunteer Service

Medfield's Betty Sanders named ‘Volunteer of the Year’ by National Garden Clubs.

Medfield resident Betty Sanders was honored in Washington, D.C. on May 27 as ‘Volunteer of the Year’ by National Garden Clubs at its annual convention.  The organization is the parent body of 6,200 garden clubs around the country. The award is given each year for volunteer work both inside and outside the garden club world. Sanders, who is a past president of the Medfield Garden Club, was cited as ‘the consummate volunteer’ whose work encompasses both horticulture and broader social needs.   In Medfield, she is well known for having run a program to get residents to compost kitchen and yard waste, and more than 600 Medfield residents have made the trek to her driveway on Wild Holly Lane to pick up the black bins.  For the Medfield …
